Dedicated Spotter Kit

1. Is it worth it?
It is worth it, a dedicated spotter kit would add another level of realism into the game, and make sniping much more than just a lone guy running around the map picking off random targets.

2. Has it already been suggested?

I have run a search on Spotter and Spotter Kit and turned up no results, I have also checked the AAS thread and have not found it suggested.

3. Is it already in-game?

No

4. Does it fit with the Main Aim of the Project Reality mod?

The main aims of project reality were to promote realism and teamwork. A dedicated spotter kit would fulfil both of these, realism as snipers do not work alone in real life and almost always (if not always) have a dedicated spotter with them. It also promotes teamwork as the sniper will likely want a spotter to help him find targets. The spotter kit will also make people more likely to do the snipers main job, providing recon and intel for squads and cas.

I find myself spotting for snipers of being spotted for with a guy using a SL kit using bino's, this feels really unrealistic. The dedicated sniper kit would include the following, Spotting optics (see bottom), these would obviously have to be modelled and textured, these optics would be able to laze targets also (if this is possible), a radio (to mark targets on the map if not sl), i'm not sure if spotters are issued rifles, but if they are then I believe it should be a iron sights rifle so we do not see rambo spotters, if you think he should have anything else please feel free to suggest

The sniper kit should ONLY be able to be requested if a spotter is already present in the squad. I know snipers can't get to the desired level of realism on this mod because of the engine restrictions (wind speed, air temp, humidity etc) but I think this should be in at least.

Thanks for reading.

How would this give away the snipers position any more than someone with bino's

Since this is project reality, my suggestion is about making the game more realistic, someone with bino's isn't.

A dedicated spotter kit would also allow us (hopefully) to do this. "The sniper kit should ONLY be able to be requested if a spotter is already present in the squad." meaning less rambo snipers.

Point Redamare is trying to make it that any kit can be used as a spotters kit. In fact as it stands now having a officer and a sniper is like having a spotter.

The likely hood that we will create a spotter is quite low as its a waste of a player on the battlefield. Although we are re looking at the sniper class to see what we can do to make it more efficient and more of a teamplayer instead of a loneworlf class.

I recently played as the sniper and I had a officer with me. Worked out exactly how a spotter would
