Corrupted/non-working installer.

The project reality .9 part 1 installer does not work on my computer. period.

I am running windows 7, as many others are by now. I have downloaded Project reality numerous times (previosu renditions) without incident.

The problem is when I download the file. The file downloads correctly, but I can't open it. When I attempt to open the file, it crashes my computer or certain (most) applications. I have downloaded the part one installer 4 times using a download manager and the download always results in the same misarble outcome.

Help would be appreciated, I really really really need my fix of this game.

you can use md5 check sums to verify the integrity of the download (in FDM the md5 value can be specified at properties in the integrity tab)

run the installer as admin

define "crash" - does it freez or reboot?
bf2 needs to be installed and patched with 1.41 and 1.5 (in that order)

from the faqs:
Q: I cannot run the installer, it just hangs.

A: If you are running Windows Vista, try disabling User Account Control (UAC). You can also try disabling your anti-virus protection, and any other program that may be interfering with the launch of the installer. If this doesn't help, it may be a corrupted download. You can try fixing the corrupt sectors by using the torrent and pointing the save location to the corrupted installer, saving you having to download the entire file again.

The entire first portion of your reply was like madarin chinese to me lol. Could you explain it more?

As for running it in administrative mode, I tried that, it does nothing.

What I mean by crash is that the computer will attempt to start the installer, but the installer never appears and the computer eventually locks up. I have to restart manually.

as of the md5 topic please crawl the webs/read here: http://pchelp.in/verifying-file-integri ... -t11.html?

maybe your hard drive is corrupted - run chkdsk (repair files (with /r)): How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk) - Windows 7

check the performance of the pc using "Resource Monitor" - maybe make a screen shot while installer is "starting"
