Why headshots don't kill like they used to?

Simple - back in time, marksmanship skills were rewarded by killing, not wounding an enemy - why this feature had been taken away? I couldn't find any explanation.
That would make people think before popping their heads over that fence to see what's on the other side.

It made players aim for the head, which is not often done in real life.

People would aim for the head going for the kill, rather than aiming for center mass which is easier to hit, and still has the same effect (stops them shooting back at you)

I disagreed with this decision as-well, but i see the reason.

The devs chose to remove the realism of a headshot to encourage the realism of center mass targeting.

In real life, people don't get shot in the chest and immediately returned to action by their medic, either.

Sometimes game play is somewhat more important than realism.

To irritate the snipers being really unuseful with their sniper rifle...

But tell me, how many times did you aim for the headwith since the removal of that... Deviation has changed everything and i think it would be fair to put it back in.

Though i've heard that it caused problems with hitbox or something...

I fail to see how gamey "BOOM HEADSHOT" thingy is more important than realistic firing at enemy, either I can't see how it hurts gameplay - it doesn't change anything in firefights unless you want to be "1337 snipzorz". Actually it's better for gameplay and immersion.

Im able to still get kills with the sniper rifle now more then ever, although I havent personally used the marksmen kit. I thinks its some what unrealistic for a head shot not to be a kill....unless the guy some how managed to wear to kevlar helmets at the same time, but even thatd be a stretch

I've never had an enemy survive a shot to the head from marksman or sniper weapons. But I don't seek to target the head either.

If you shoot someone in the head with a rifle, they are more than likely stone dead. I fail to see the problem ,people get shot in the head in real life too.

I don't personaly ever waste my time only aiming for head shots and never did, I aim for whatever part I can hit "at the time".

If someone is peaking over a wall fireing at me and all I can see is his head, I want to be able to cut it off.

If someone is laying down and his foot is hanging out, his foot is fair game, just the way it is.

Locking this for resuggestion.

I'll resume what Fuzzhead said about this in length. With today's weapons a head/arm/chest/foot/nose shot is going to have the same effect ... you are out of battle effectiveness and most probably dead. Thus the fact that gaming wise its all the same.
