Yamalia - anybody else getting computer shutdowns?

I posted this in the beta tester forum yesterday:
This is very weird. When I'm on Yamalia, my computer just dies after a while. It usually happens after 40-60 mins, but I haven't done any exact timings. It sounds like a case of overheating. I've checked the CPU temp which lies steadily on 44 C when I'm playing on the map, and the thermal specification on my CPU is 74.1 C. Unless the temp rapidly climbs after a while for some reason, 44 C should be normal, right? And it's only on Yamalia that this is happening.

My computer specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs)
4096MB RAM
500 GB HDD
ATI Radeon HD 4850
Realtek HD Audio output
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3
Antec Sonata III 500 Silent ATX 500 W

...??
And I'm posting it here in the public forums now to see if anybody else have the same problem or something similar. Ideas on how to fix it is welcome too of course. :p

not sure, but your problem might be in
Antec Sonata III 500 Silent ATX 500 W
+
ATI Radeon HD 4850
4850 is pretty hungry for energy, so if you have/can borrow more powerful PSU from somebody, imo it will be worth checking

Yeah i got 2 GTX 260s and a sufficient PSU and on Yamalia getting a Blue Screen of death every now and then. 1 times out of 10ish. Big maps normally have problems with memory leaks i hear, but what do i know
Lashkar Valley is also a problem for me, driving down the main road area lags pretty bad but when i get in the new British truck that kills another 10fps from my PC for no apparent reason.

Is you PC Overclocked, because even if it gives you better preformance it crashes alot more. I actually found BF2 is the best after overclock Memory and CPU stress test.
Im sure it will get fixed in a patch, all we can do is enjoy the release and stay happy.

I've had this issue since reducing RAM from 6 Gb to 4 Gb. I would get intermittent freezing (not even BSOD) on most of the new maps about 2-3 mins in and about 30min in on the older maps. This did not happen in 0.874. I have since put the 2 Gb module back in and everything seems to be stable. I know for a fact that two out of three RAM modules have errors, but Windows 7 64bit's memory management is far superior to Vista's so the system remain stable even with bad ram. I think that Windows avoid using the bad sectors and thus the extra 2 GB of RAM is abundant for the memory hungry PR 0.9.

So I suggest that you guys add more RAM to see if PR will run more stable.

Hope this helps.

Edit:

E8400
6 Gb RAM
8800 GT 512 mb
500 W PS Generic
Windows 7 64 bit
1680 x 1050
Every thing high
Anti-Aliasing 2x

different problem, yours is crashing and going black screen. the op's problem i think from what i've read is his comp actually shutting off. it used to happen to me back in 0.8 when i had an older computer, which was indeed a PSU problem for me.

as for you i dont know. please dont so quickly dismiss another persons solution to a problem, especially when your version of the problem yields entirely different symptoms.

Similar thing happened to me on Yamalia as well, was playing vehicle warfare, was in the server for about 10 maybe 15 minutes gunning a tank and screen went a bright blue. like the sky on that map. computer was completely unresponsive. hit the reset button but it came back on with the same blue effect. had to fully power down and back up to correct it.

happened another time when i was flying a cow, screen went black that time.

might be a memory leak on that map...

Not sure if this is on other maps, but it definately happened when I played Yamalia and rejoined like twice to fix it. My game would just start making a staticy fuzzy sound and eventually everything would slow down like there was extreme lag and than my mouse would give out. I could type, but I couldn't move with my mouse and my game would then eventually freeze. Never happened before 0.9 either.

4 Gigs of Ram (3.5 because 32 bit)
280GTX
650PSU

Not sure what else it could be. Sounds like a memory leak to me too.

I've had problems with my power source getting very hot and shutting down, however I got some cheap cooling installed and its fine now, though I'm planning on replacing it anyway.
