i always see DEVs or people on here saying that the military advisors told them this, told them that, but what constitutes a military advisor? i always get the image of a guy in woodland cammies, sunglasses, patrol cap and greying hair standing around with his arms crossed haha

are they fellas that have been/are in the military? or just someone who's read up a bit on a few things? this time next year i'll have a BA/hons degree in contemporary military history, but my knowledge is by no means limited to what i've studied in it. would this make me "eligable" to be an advisor?

To my knowledge, all the Military Advisors who are DEVs are active (or retired maybe) members of their respective armies. The PR mod needs reliable people, not just people who have "read" as you say.
Community factions have as well their MAs, in any case, French Forces have several, and they are very useful to gather references and tell what could be or not be done. (one of them, néréflo is giving us the sounds of several weapons, and vehicles). They are not all militaries, but are enough informed to be reliable.

[R-DEV]Eddie Baker is a MA but not serving, hes a student in international security studies IIRC.

i think im the only MA of German Forces cause nobody of the others ever was in the German Army

i only did 9 months there but i get a lot of chances shooting PzF3 or DM-51 (grenades) and for sure i shot MG-3, G36 and P8

Essentially people who do/have done that sort of thing for a living. Some served in the military, some have achademic qualifications in that area, etc.

Also, OldBreed, we go to the same uni (well, not at the moment, I've been sent to the other side of the world for a semester, but whatever) and are doing the course that made me think "Damn, why the hell am I doing International Relations?" when I found out it was offered

To be honest, the lack of "eligable" advisors isn't a problem - the dev team have got more than enough people (officially sanctioned or not) telling them what should and shouldn't be in the mod

I think the question has been answered. I'm going to lock this before it turns into 'I think I should be a military advisor' thread (no offense to the original poster, perfectly honest question on your part).
