The PR team is going to use the C4 Engine

I've looked up the C4 engine, videos, images, from it's websites, and I've gotta say I'm not too impressed and it looks like a poorly built engine, I don't know too much but I know the PR Team will probably make it look a lot better than in the videos I've seen. I just want to know what all of you think about the C4 Engine.

EDIT-Let me just say this is from what I've seen on a visual standpoint, this isn't about what I think about it's features, this is mostly about what I've seen from other peoples work. This is just me asking all of you what you guys think from what you've seen from other peoples work, I should have said this better in the first place.

"poorly built", do you have any knowledge what so ever of C4s modding/coding etc capability?

Well you would be wrong.
but I know the PR Team will probably make it look a lot better than in the videos I've seen.
You think the engine is the artwork, and that is where you are showing a lack of understanding of game development.

For the record, when it comes to graphics rendering, the C4 engine is a million miles ahead of ANY of its indie competitors, and even competes with some new and very expensive engines. C4 engine is cutting edge. 'Bleeding edge' even, as it has some revolutionary technologies that no other game engine in the world has.

Its also a WIP, and in constant development and updates. If you wish to see the kind of rendering that C4 is capable of ... take a look at the Subway Simulator Game and even that is years old.

C4 engine's graphic rendering capability makes BF2 look like a cornflakes packet.

I'll be vaguely posting images up in my blog every now and again.

As for what specs ..... :D :D :D .... honestly do not worry about that. The release of PR2 is so far in the future that today's computer will look like a toaster. (although ... as we all know ... that ain't that far away ;) )

Its not what it looks like that makes it a 'bad' engine, its what it can do ;) artwork is only visual.

If PR2 doesn't have shiny guns and a brownish filter I totally won't touch it. It would totally ruin the gaming experience for me.

I looked at the bus simulator made from C4 engine they made it like GTA :) bus driver can get out and walk around town(not much to do though) I like how the suspension and all that stuff worked though if that will be put in PR2 driving would be a lot more awesome

I hope the online thing works out because I now engines tend to have weird stuff once it comes to online

Maybe we can see some teasers?

this sounds amazing

Voxel terrain

* Terrain is based on voxel maps that can be edited in real time. More
* Can create vertical cliffs, overhangs, caves, arches, etc., that are impossible with height-based terrain systems.
* Editor provides sculpting and texture painting tools.

Model, animation, and texture import tools

* Support for the Collada scene format, enabling models to be imported from 3D Studio MAX, Maya, XSI, Blender, and other content creation packages.
* Full skeletal hierarchy support for skinned meshes.
* Bump map, parallax map, horizon map, and ambient occlusion channel calculations.
* Texture compression and automatic mipmap generation.

I hope the DEVss are right maybe we can see this is 1.0? :)

Woah woah woah fellas, hang on to your britches.

The DEVs are focused a lot on the current releases of PR, and PR2 isn't the focus right now, so there's probably not as much being done as you all might hope...

All in time, guys. All in time.

I'm only saying this on a Visuual Standpoint, but I know that the C4 engine can achieve many other things, like voxel terrain, dynamic lighting, physics, like as you guys said and I have looked at the specs for it on the website, but the visual part is pretty much all I'm worried about (but I'm anticipating the features even more) But I'm just worried that textures, details, etc. might not be so good, but then again I haven't really seen any professional videos/pics except for some of the C4 engine.

And I just saw the world of Subways thing, kinda makes me rethink on what I said about the visuals.

I shouldn't have said poorly built but what I meant was that on a visual stand point on what I've seen from other people the C4 engines doesn't look so good, but I know that it can achieve many other things I should have been less vague.
