Chinook questions

First question: Can you close the rear hatch like on the Merlin? And if so, how?
Second question: If you have a full Chinook, when everyone gets out, will they all be dropped behind the Chinook or will they also be dropped on the sides?
Third question: Where do the crates drop from the Chinook? Behind, or to the right/left like on the Huey?

Door is not closable

When they get out, some times ive seen them come out from the front of the chopper not the sides or the back, but usually they drop from behind.

Crates drop from behind.

The door closes automatically using the same code as the landing gear on other vehicles. What speed/altitude exactly, I dunno.

This is what I have heard, but I've yet to see that door close or the landing gear retract, regardless of altitude. I could of course just be blind.

Well, that could be because the Chinook doesn't have retractable landing gear ;)

I have also never seen the door close, but that might be because I rarely sit in the back.
But according to Rhino, that is how it is supposed to work.

good info thanks guys
We need a way for the pilot to look back through the chinook while flying, so you can see what you're doing.
Sort of like the behind camera for trucks.

There's a video on youtube that shows the chinook's rear hatch closing as the player stays alive while standing up. Not sure if anyone saw it and remembers the name I couldn't find it with a quick search.

Ah, that's right. I remember that one.

There we go;

Door closes at 0:30.

That was done on Singleplayer and thus on local. Anywhere out of local, the Ramp will not retract, even though it is coded to.

So, it's possible to just stand in the Chinook without pressing 'e'? Or is this only possible in singleplayer?

Possible anywhere.

That said, however,
1) Outside of local, you will not be perfectly in sync with the chinook's movements, and will glitch in and out of the helicopter. This may either kill you, or launch you through a wall of the chinook.
2) The faster it goes, the more likely the above happens.

And yes, the door is broken, and I reported it to the bugs section.
