Stable maplist servers

Aloah,

I was wondering if any servers are running a maplist consisting of just those maps with the least amount of problems, namely lag and CTD's.

I have barely played a round of PR since 0.9 came out, although I have enjoyed PRSP it's becoming a little samey now. Every server I used to enjoy (and obviously, it's not for me to dictate what maps they run) has many maps that I just can't play on, and presumably this is the case for lots of community members.

If this isn't already happening perhaps one of the underperforming servers could try it out, a by no means definitive maplist I'd like to see might be;

kashan
archer
asad khal
lashkar valley
Silent eagle (by which I mean the Can vs. Rus with para drop)
Mutrah

What would your dream pre fix-patch maplist be? Are there any servers out there willing to give this a go?

hey maarit,

there are lots of people struggling to play, perhaps we could get this turned into a poll of the least problematic maps for people to play on?

I'd be fine on your maplist server, I think Yamalia is the map I meant when I said silent eagle.

How can we turn this into a poll to find the most lag free/stable maps for people having problems with the current build?

Asad
Barracuda
Muttrah
Jabal
Kashan
Lashkar
Archer

Sounds pretty good to me!

I would be surprised if a server haven't done this yet but those kind of servers are probably not that populated. I heard one guy mention that the Hardcore Ingurgency server has put the "laggy" maps in one block and the others in another in such way that you should be able to play some of the maps with no lag before the server runs some of the maps with lag.

Problem is, "lag and ctd problems" is all subjective. Some players have it, some dont. for example, a sutibale 'CTD free' maplist for me would be all maps as i havnt had a CTD for ages, same with a 'lag free' maplist.

you can play any server you want.

yeah,But there is servers who has only 10 players and they need more players quick.
just put these lagfree maps in list and you get me,my 4 friends, thread starter...and more to play.
im tired to go server to play barracuda about 10 minutes and then comes beirut.

so put the servers name:

THE BAD COMPUTERS PR 0.9 SERVER.
barracuda
archer
yamalia
jabal al burj
asad
qinling
kashan
:)
btw,lashkar is unplayable to me

hey,

Gazz, aren't you a lucky bunny. Are you honestly telling me that you haven't noticed the plethora of posts relating to this? You know that some people are having trouble, don't be pedantic.

And you'll note that if this was made into a poll we could start to find out what maps are causing people the most trouble, it's an almost evidence based strategy.

for me, the more detail present on a map, the less playable it is. Of course some maps are causing problems regardless of people's elite gaming machines, so they're struck off first, and then the laggiest. What is left would be my suggestion for a temporary maplist for a struggling server to gain popularity with.

So, like maarit says, call it something that will alert people to the nature of the maplist, and see if it takes off. It goes without saying that said server would need to be properly adminned to succeed, and I for one would be willing to have a go at that.

Any server owners out there willing to take a punt on this?

burkesooty

And Mahi, cheers for that, I'll look into it.

I haven't had any C++ related CTDs since .9. All of them were due to lack of memory as I refuse to set my textures to medium.

We were forced to remove 2 new maps completely because they were full of errors (Beirut & Dragon Fly)

Also we are quite careful in choosing the known laggy maps such as Lashkar, Fallujah, Korengal & Siege at...

So imagine what's left.

Gazz isn't saying there aren't problems, he's saying that the maps that cause problems are often different for different people.

For me for example somtimes Yamala and Lashkar play perfectly, and at other times they're the worst performing maps for me. Strange, I know but there you go.

So his point is, a 'problem free' map server isn't likely to exist for many people, or at least the map list would be very limited (more limited than the one you suggest).
