If I put two IEDs in one spot, does that double the effective range?

Pretty sure it wont increase the overall range if you put them on each other, only increase in damage.

But does stacking two give you a sun trying to hand out raisins?

Two scoops of raisins up in this house.

Range will not be increased, but damage will be doubled. However if you spread them out some distance apart, the range will be increased, but the damage will be more spread out then if you stack them.

No, radius won't increase. But you will scare the **** out of your beloved goat :(

Yeah, I don't think that explosive radius' combine and expand in BF2. But more bang with what you're working with = more virgins :)

The range of the IED is not changed by stacking them one on top of the other, no.

What the original poster meant is whether the effective range will be doubled.

The answer is still no, it won't be doubled, but I do think it will be increased. The reduction in damage based on distance from the center of the explosion is not linear. For example, if at 60m an IED does damage equivalent to half a Humvee's armor, then two overlapping IED's will have an effective Humvee kill radius of 60m. But if a single IED can take out a Humvee at 40m, you're better off spacing them out to achieve a larger kill zone, unless enough space isn't available.

I assume it wouldn't double the range of the blast, but rather double the power of the blast with the same range as only one ied.

so if you did half damage(50%) before with one with two it will be 100% damage?

Even though the range itself is not increased, its effective range is increased due to the hit points that get stacked on each other. Let my matlab function explain:

Damage plot with one ied on the left, damage plot with 4 ieds on the right.

(darker red means more damage)

So even though the radius is not increased, anything that normally would just be damaged/injured, would now be destroyed/dead at the same distance from the ied.

In real life, you need 4 times the explosives to double the radius of damage.. that's what I wanted to say before I saw your illustration :)

i'm thinking about starting to plant 2 in the same spot from now on.
