[Suggestion] F-4 Phantom II (Copilot)

Vietnam allows the use of one of my favorite jets of all time, the F-4 Phantom II, and in PRs quest for realism, I believe the copilot of the Phantom II should be invaluable in Air to Air combat.

My suggestion is to use CAs radar system on the Phantom II, for the copilot. In real life, the second seat was a Radar Operator, in charge of locating enemy aircraft and achieving a radar lock on them. In addition I would suggest a "realistic" portrayal of the Sparrow Missile under the copilots control.

So the Pilot would control the actual flight of the jet, and the Sidewinder Missiles, while the copilot would have the free look, radar, and Sparrow Missiles. The Sparrow Missiles would be controlled in a manner similar to CAs bomb drop system, where the copilot would need to keep the reticule close to the target in order for the missile to maintain lock, similar to real life, where the radar operator needed to keep a radar lock on his target because the missile didn't have an active seeker.

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun with these suggestions.

Sounds like a good suggestion to me,allowing both teamwork and a fighting role, but wouldnt the radar/sparrow role be a bit boring in maps where aircrafts arent widely available?

I wouldn't mind operating the radar / sparrow, even if there were just a few nme jets during the whole game.

yeah but if you play on a server without someone willing to do just that the air to air capability's of the phantom will be severely crippled

Doesn't seem to be a problem in PR with the Tornado.

sry haven't ever played a map with a tornado in it due to former pc limitations

Yes, I'd love to see radar implemented and then visual tracking for missiles.

It would require however that there'd be a large enough lock angle to compensate for lack of stabilization (unless mosquill's turret stabilization works well enough on aircraft ), and a large enough view distance to actually warrant some of it (1.5 - 2 kilometers would be perfect on a well optimized map).

I wonder how feasible it would be to incorporate parts of the "wire guided" and "IR guided" into a single missile system in BF2, though. I'm supposing it to be similar to how the hellfires in CA would follow the cursor until the cursor locked onto a target, but I can't quite remember how that worked since it's been a long time since any updates have happened with it.

This would be awesome, especially if there was a way to encourage people to use the sprrows rather than the sidewinders. As for maps without enemy aircraft I don't know much about the aircraft but I assume the copilot would also have a job in the air to ground role.

yeah the AGM-62 walleye glide bomb would be nice controlled by the WSO (gunner)
