The M1 Carbine and Thompson were used mainly during the early war and by supervisors later during the war. The 1911 pistol is in the #2 slot.

Field dressings are for the NVA, sorry for the confusing. See the vietcong as insergents and the NVA as MEC.

Or see the NVA as more like the Taliban, they're slightly better equipped than the Vietcong

For VC or maybe even NVA, I think that the standard grenadier kit should be replaced with a "saboteur" type kit with various traps to be placed. Ex. Punjj stakes, tripwire mines, and maybe a special shovel that "activates" (builds) mapper placed traps (if thats even REMOTELY possible, lol). I feel that such a kit would bring some sweet asymmetrical warfare!

Too much like BFV and thatd be too much weight for your average soldier to carry (from what Ive read most M79 grenaders would have atleast a claymor e bag full of shells along with their regular m1956 pouchs and bandoliers)

Why would every US soldier carry M1911?
I think that the equipment of all soldiers, including American, should be lighter than the current PR kits, because from what I understand, they preferred to reduce the load in jungle fighting.

The US grenadier kit should have an M16. He didn't carry all the grenades he needed for a mission by himself. When soldiers went into the field everyone in the squad shared the load, some got a load of M60 ammo or a bandolier or 2 of 40mm grenades. This is the intent behind riflemen carrying ammo.
Just saying the grenadier wouldn't go into the field that disadvantaged. Even a shotgun could be substituted, however, they usually weighed more than an M16 anyways.

source? pretty sure they didn't carry a rifle with them:
M79 grenade launcher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Moreover, its size meant that a soldier with an M79 would be dedicated to being only a grenadier, and if he ran out of ammunition had nothing but a pistol and knife to contribute to a firefight
hole reason the XM148/m203 where developed.
im not 100% on this as my knowledge of vietnam war era equipment is limited, but the only picture i can find of some one carrying a m79 and a rifle is of a US operator in iraq.

the grenadiers in Vietnam only had the m79 which came with HE rounds and Buckshot rounds and he carried up to 20 or even more rounds iirc.
The XM148 was what came before the 203 but i dont think it was used alot

Maybe even a parachute flare round could be added to the grenadier kit.
