I have to agree, I tend to tell clan members type out where they want to go becuase I cant hear them on vent over the sound of my own chopper.

Sounds like a good idea if possible. I hate how you often can't hear what your passengers are saying on Mumble or VOIP.

I currently work on MV-22s, and our pilots wear a. earplugs b. the hearing protection built into their helmets. So most US pilots (at least USMC pilots) wear double hearing protection.

When it's on mumble I find it easier to deal with it, I changed the binds so I increase volume with the arrow up key and decrease it with the arrow down key.
So when I'm flying, I just increase the mumble volume by 50% to be able to hear over the noise.

But it would definitely be better to have the volume lower for the pilot.

Well in reality in helicopters ( in them ) is not so loud so yes the noise should be decreased

Well, sometimes gameplay > realism imho.

IRL, a pilot certainly wouldn't the hear guys talking normally in the back of the chopper. But on the other hand, he wouldn't have to as the flight plan doesn't come from the passengers.

So regardless of what noise canceling ear protection pilots mightor might not have, I think they should get a slight decrease in vehicle noise, like in the tanks, for the sake of easier pilot<->passenger communication and generally smoother gameplay.

Volume inside the chopper should be lowered for all occupats... makes things easier, simulates everybody having some sort of headphones and mics...

Not sure how to it in Mumble but you can do it for bf2 voip in options

I had this problem last night on the TG server, I was the Huey Pilot on Jabal and I couldnt hear the SL behind me, finally I just said screw it and told him to type. Then I ended up turning my effects down to solve this issue, which kinda sucks.

Configure > Settings > Shortcuts
Then bind Arrow Up to "Volume Up (+10%)"
And Arrow Down to "Volume Down (-10%)"

YES PLEASE. flying 1+ hour gives me a headacheand i cant hear my voip

Same with most of the logistics trucks. They're just as loud in the drivers seat as standing beside it. I know they're not a Mercedes Benz S Class or anything with double thick windows and zero road noise, but it creates a problem of having to stop or get out to hear people on VOIP.

Slow down turbo. I work on a flight line, in and around helicopters. Sir, they are very loud...more so then in the game. We have to wear intercommunication (ics) gear inside the chopper just to hear each other. If your not on the ics, you cant hear anything and no one can hear you.

That's the point of this suggestion. In real life you use ics gear, in PR we talk over the sound of the helicopter.

If possible the crew of the vehicle(pilot/gunners/etc) should have a muffled engine sound, while the passengers who would not have the ICS gear in real life, should stay the same as they are now.

In the USMC, all passengers on aircraft are REQUIED to wear hearing protection. No IFs, ANDs, or BUTs about it. ICS is a form of hearing protection, but it also allows crew members and maintains to be able to communicate without screaming.

Yeah sounds have to be decreased

Well i just thought the guys sitting on the benches of the littlebird or in the open door of the huey should be able to hear the engine still. I've never seen a guy on the side of a little bird with headphones on.
