Pretty sure what´s causing the FPS drops after 0.9

If i remeber correctly in 0.9 you implemated a new kit geometry system that make draw the kits at longer distances.

So just now as i was playing muttrah after the 0.917 release (as i havnt played almost at all since 0.8 because of the performance issue) i noticed that whenever i looked the way my team was clustered my FPS dropped

So i went on a empty muttrah server and i got the steady 99FPS im used to.
With some drop to 60~ but not anyway near the 20~ i got on the populated server

Im not saying this is the definite cause but can it be that LOTS of buildings/static (as in muttrah, beirut, fallujah) + the new kit drawing system causes these annoying drops in FPS

Please everyone who have this problem test this out.
I´ve only tested it on muttrah so far

renderer.drawfps 1 is the command for fpsmeter, go on a populated server study your fps and then go to a empty server and do the same compare results



Edit; i checked it out on fallujah too kind of a differance but not as dramatic as muttrah

Its like that with any map, when you look into the middle your FPS will drop loads.

I get over 80 FPS on maps such as Kashan Desert, Asad Khal, Ramiel, Silent Eage etc.

But whenever I join Fallujah West, Gaza Beach or the others which are the same, I get terribly low FPS.

This happened on 0.909 and still happens in 0.917. Surely this should have been fixed?

i just cant understand that fallujah what is pretty much very ugly map and small lag that much even after patch.

Ye the new kit gemos we have also noticed is one of the contributing factors of .9's performance issues since they have little to no lods and could be optimized in other areas too. I believe for .91 there draw distance was reduced (or at least was going to be) until we had time to fully fix them at a later date. Aint read the change log to see if anyone got round to reducing there draw distances for the patch but it was defiantly talked about.

Yeah i think there was something in release notes about that, but it clearly was´nt enough

So the problem is adknowledged and is being worked on? so i shouldnt give up hope?

Yeah it was reduced, but only slightly afaik.

Could do with having at least 2 stages of LODs made up, especially with the far more detailed kit geoms for many factions although that is obviously a fairly mammoth task.
