Hello everyone. I am glad to see that there will be a release of PR:V and would like to thank the DEV's, ok on to the real stuff.
I have though of 2 different gamemodes for PR:V. the first Take the Hill. This is a mode where you have the NVA dug into a hill and the Americans attack and take it.(and can even do americans defend) This was a popular type of battle in vietnam and believe it should be a patched in game mode.
The 2nd type of game i though of is interesting but i dont know if possible. This map is based on the ho chi minh trail. Where you have the vietnam army assisting a supply convoy to the vietcong in the South. And the Americans get intel on this convey and try to assault and stop it before reaching its destination.
Thanks for reading.

The first one would lead to small maps, but it's possible to make a cache spawn on a hill so you have a simmular idea, but it will still be insurgency.
And the second one is just no imo although it sounds good

I absolutely love your first idea, kind of a Defend the Alamo type game type.
In my opinion, the US should have to defend some type of artillery hill, complete with trenches, machine gun positions, and access to mortars. To win the attacking side must destroy caches that are located inside the main sandbag bunker, located at the center of the hill.

The first idea is PR already...best example would be Kozelsk (though your mode pretty much goes for a single hill which would make it not so PR friendly as maps are alot larger)

First idea sounds great although i think smoke grenades would be used too much for the defending team to return fire and have a chance at defending

Taking a hill sounds very vague...
No2 is/was extraction/VIP mode that used to be in PR.

I don't really see anything wrong with PR's current gamemodes slotting straight into PR:V tbh.

i like your idea`s
maby a gamemode whit the name patrol could be awsome.
that you need to walk togehter and walk information and get ambushed and that you can not leave the area in the path where you are walking

I agree, Bloody battles for positions happen already, as do abushes in the forest.

In the game vietcong they had a mode were the american team had to escort a downed pilot to a save zone, it was pretty fun but i don't know if it fits PR.

First idea is like Siege at Omachamacachiriria. (So, AAs, with flags really close)
Second one is kind of like Xtract mode, only with different settings.

If you did make a hill map, why would it have to be small? Could we not have a very large hill were we have to take certain points first?

The first one with the hill could be combined with the second one => the supply thing. So lets say = US is defending the plain hill without trees, just like a armoured "fortress/building" on top and around the hill it is a big jungle. The US needs supplies so they have defend the hill with almost all man power + the supplies have also to be defended and attacked by the Vietcong. There are only like let's say 2 ways to the hill from the American main base, and these are small paths through the mountains. This would be very nice xD ( based on a Russian movie called Grozovie Vorota wich means Stormgates )

1st suggestion not really is a gamemode, more of a map lay out... I think this will probably occur in small scale as focussing a complete map on capturing 1 hill destroys the pr gameplay I think

What could be something is a sort of AASv3/Insurgency
A team needs certain amount of intel to reveal a flag and then capture it.
Simulating NVA have been spotted useing a village or hill for whatever reason and the US have to clear it out and then keep on patrolling the map to get more intel to ''fight them out of the area''.
It would also make the maps much more open like insurgency maps where most of the map is used instead of around the flags. ( im not to fond of flags, but more random objectives

)
I think this could possibly suit the mod very well, (as well as normal PR)
But then the question is; is it possible?

the whole attack/defend and patrol/ambush and even supply convoys should just be tactics that should be encouraged into the AAS and insurgency gamemodes, things that just happen on the fly when needed, and not pre established goals for a round, just like in regular PR

Smells like the Extraction game mode.

So it would be realistic... a lot of battles in vietnam took place over a single hill

I like this idea. I was originally thinking of the standard insurgency mode of finding caches. But sending out patrols to make contact with the enemy and determine their 'flags' or strongholds is great. A large map with many small villages, rice paddies and jungle terrain. Once the flag is revealed and taken by the US, the VC can't take it back, the villagers sympathizers have been removed.. Do this one flag at a time. Intel could be greater than regular insurgency. Maybe 5 'flags' or Villages or tunnel systems to take.
Basically, the idea is to cleanse the 'valley' or whatever of VC strongholds.
Taking out caches is also a viable game mode as the VC did hide stock piles of weapons in anticipation of attacks on US firebases and the like.
