Political Situation of the PR world

With international politics being what i've studied for the past 3 years at my Uni I thought i'd impart my wisdom (or what I like to think is wisdom) toward something actually productive, making PR more fun! So below is my impression of what the PR world is like. This is meant to simply help people think of possible new maps and gameplay and are in no way intended to offend anyone of any country and all situations I describe are apolitical.

NATO invasion of Afghanistan (Led by U.S.)- 2001
-Korengal Valley
-Lashkar Valley
-Operation Archer

War begins in Iraq- 2003
-Fallujah
-Basra
-Ramiel (Since it's Iraqi Insurgents on this map I'll include it here)
-Karbala

This is where we break from reality and shift into...

World War!!!
- Relations between the NATO and those of Russia, China, and Iran go up in flame over Iranian nuclear ambitions

-Israel bombs Iranian nuclear facilities, leading to outbreak of war
-NATO declares war on Iran following Iranian counter attack
-China and Russia back up Iran and declare war on NATO, becomes world war

War begins in Iran- 2012
-Muttrah
-Kashan Desert

War begins in Far East- 2012
-Operation Barracuda
-Tad Sae
-(Sorry I know I'm forgetting more but I usually play insurgency and can't find a list of maps =P )

War begins in Russia- 2012
-Yamalia
-Silent Eagle
- (As side note, war between Russians and Chechens has been going on since 90's, It's more complicated than that but I'm trying to keep things simple)

What does this all mean? Here are the belligerents.

NATO
_____
U.S.
U.K.
Canada
Israel

versus

Central Powers (They're all mostly land powers and I'm a history nerd so they get this cool name)
_____________
Russia
China
Iran
Taliban
Chechens
Iraqi Insurgents

I bring this up because if you map out this "world war" you'll find all the battles taking place in Asia, from the near east to russia, to far east. I'd like to see this "world war" take a truely global turn. Here are some of my nerdy picks for future battles of this global war.

Battles
______
DMZ, Korea (China v. U.S.)- How cool would that be? Like Omaha beach PR style!

Berlin / Krakow, and or Rammstein Airforce Base (U.S. v. Russia or Germany v. Russia) Beastly! Russians counter-attack by invading a NATO member to try and break up the alliance. Awesome? I think so. Insert German forces for U.S. if and when they make it into the game.

Phillipines (China v. U.S.) Sweet!!!

Operation Coral Sea [Chinese invasion of Australia] (China v. Australia) Ummm need I say more? Hope the devs could make statics for this but I think this would be great as a first map for Australian forces...if they make it into the game.

Tehran, Iran (U.S. v. MEC) like Muttrah but on steroids. And not on the sea of course.

Tbilisi, Georgia (U.S. v. Russia) Seems like a potential problem area. Russia invades, U.S. responds in defense of an ally.

Peshawar, Pakistan (U.S. v. Taliban) An actual heavy urban map for Taliban. Better than small villages I think.

Sana'a, Yemen (Britain v. Insurgents) Another cool urban map.

Just thoughts gents.

Like 'em. But FYI, Muttrah lies in Oman, not Iran! :)

Don't even try and work it out... we take a perverse pride in the fact that the politics of PR make no real-world sense :D

Cool outlook!

Just realize while the OP thread is cool look on things the PR team has stated many times that we have NO STORY.

So please continue and realize this is for role playing and map making only. We dont need any "the Dev's" said posts.

There's an Aussie map that at least was being worked on called Rural Push similar to that concept:

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f354-community-maps/47491-map-rural-push-4km-wip.html

As for Aussies making it into the game, that actually depends on maps as most of the faction work has been done apparently.

Well there needs to be a battle somewhere in North America. Some ex-communist nation attacks.... NEW YORK CITY (for some kickass urban fighting on manhattan island) The USS all-your-base comes to defend New York.

That would be an epic map.

ahh wishful thinking :)

Look what the Dev said!

But seriously, I also enjoy the fact that each map is situational in a vague world conflict kind of way while following psuedo realistic limitations like how Canada wouldn't invade the US on an official map. I do miss the fluff text that used to be on maps, explaining the reason for the conflict a la vBF2 like we used to have.

I agree, kind of puts a twist on things.. i think there should be a page on the website dedicated to the "Story". But more of a time line. With more Nato factions in the works, the war in europe could eventually open up more.. with every NATO army potentially in a battle.

The German and Russian map is Silent Eagle, the US are just place holders for it.

How about some North American maps where Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela invade florida, texas, california... and then Brazil Attacks Venezuela for attacks on the US opening up to an epic Jungle Warfare map.. hmm?

I would say it´s not possible to divide them in just 2 parties. You for example put Russia and the Chechens in one allience. Which is definately not the case.

We had a few Korean maps with the PLA vs. USA before intact, one being a meat grinder of a fortress assault (hills of hamonyg) and the other a basic river valley and village (kyongan ni)

I think that I like where he went, but I also liked the way the devs have it
We can have PLA vs RA, Aussies for Brazilians, Mec Vs Militia
WHatever we want

Good post. I too study this (anthropology). I like the idea a lot but I would change some things:

It’s a little more dynamic imo. There should be 3 or 4 groups, not two. There should be:
1. NATO (tier 1 blufor)
_____
U.S.
U.K.
Canada
Israel
and Germany
and more
source: NATO - Member countries

2. Central Powers (cool name), (tier 1 opfor)
_____
Russia
China
Iran
and MEC
but not Taliban
not Chechens
not Iraqi Insurgents

3. “Anti-Western Combatants”/”Resistance Fighters” (tier 2 opfor)
_____
Taliban
Chechens
Iraqi and Nigerian Insurgents
Any “Mujiahdeen” (like Somali al Shabaab or Bangladeshi Jamatul, Janjaweed[?])
FARC

4. “Pro-Western Forces”/“NATO Allies” (tier 2 blufor)
Countries like Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Eastern Europe

And they fight like this:
NATO and “Pro-Western Forces”/“NATO Allies” vs. Central Powers and “Anti-Western Combatants”/”Resistance Fighters”

So the U.S. should not fight Germany, but Germany vs. Russia would be great!
Peshawar, Pakistan would be cool if it was the Pakistani Army vs. the Taliban (G3 vs AK)

This was a fun read. Having little backgrounds like this sometimes makes the fight more interesting as people actually think about why they're fighting and therefore fight harder...on second thoughts, maybe that's just me...

How many times? PR takes place during the US' last, desperate war to prevent those dastardly Arabs & cunning Chinese from blowing up the moon!

All the other conflicts are simply states and political groups taking advantage of the chaos.

on a side note I would love to see Canada vs USA!

As I stated earlier, I'm trying to simplify things. Yes I put Chechens on the central powers but I originally had them in parenthesis (like here, but for some reason they didn't end up in parenthesis!). This meaning Chechens are really a stand alone group. It doesn't make sense to seperate the factions into 3 groups because faced with a strong enemy people choose sides. The Taliban would choose to side with those haram, vodka drinking Russians and Russians, in the face of a very good western military, would ally with those...well let's admit, evil, Taliban.

And no side is good or bad. Seems like you looked at this in a western light. I view NATO lead by the U.S. and U.K. and the Central lead by Russia and China. Sure the Taliban and Iraqi Insurgents are a little unorthodox, but would you care about human rights violations in a world war? I wouldn't! Therefore I stand by my choices.

And furthermore I contend the MEC stay Iran. I know they speak Arabic but Fahrsi isn't in the game, nor will probably ever be. And that being said I refuse to see a situation where Arab countries attack the U.S., perhaps a handful of extreamists hate the U.S. but the vast majority of arab populations share only a distrust of the U.S. tops, and the governments of the major countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq (the new one that is), Jordan, and Turkey (Shush with the smartass comments about not being arab, I know!) are all American allies.

In fact the only question I have in my scenarios is what to do with Turkey. Do they join their muslim brothers and fight NATO or do they uphold their treaty to NATO and join the same side as Israel? Or do they stay neutral, despite a treaty that says they must fight their muslim brothers? I'd like to hear from Turks about this!
