Light Transport Request option for SL

As we all know, many people believe that the game has become to much walking. While not as big an issue as they make it seem, i do somewhat agree. With rally's no longer a means for infinite spawn point to assualt objectives players DO spend much time moving on foot. So my suggestion is simple, allow the SL to request a light, unarmed 6 seat vehicle ONLY FROM YOUR MAIN BASE.
A simple addition to the SL radio commo rose would spawn one of these vehicle in a similar fashion as deploying FOBs and other assets. There would be a 20 minute timer between requests go prevent spamming of the vehicles, and there would be a limit of three of these requestable vehicles on the map at a time. In addition, you will require a minimum of 4 players in your squad (including the SL) to request it much like the rally.
The average lifespan of an average infantry squad is about 20 minutes so this would give a wiped out SQ some transport capability should your team be too waste full with other transport assets.
In addition, the lack of a mounted weapon would ensure that this is used for transport not gun runs. If needed to prevent too many spawns, any abandoned but drivable requested vehicle will despawn after 5 mins and return to the request pool.
To keep things fair, non conventional forces (insurgents, taliban, or other insurgency forces) will NOT be able to request these vehicles. This suggestion is far from being flawless/balanced so suggestions or opinions are welcome as long as they remain constructive.

The current balance of transport is fine.

It's fine when you play with a good team, but most of the rounds I played on recently were just terrible. Pubbers often just take their hummers and go somewhere who knows where with them, then they get killed and you are stuck with no transport.
Something like this could be useful but it needs to be thought out first. Interesting suggestion.

You know, if you play on popular servers (Chicago, Virginia, Tactical Gamer, 45][HP, Brazilain Community Server, NwA, 10th) you won't have that much trouble with transports I think.

Hey, what about taking a vehicle at the start of the round and *gasps* keeping it around or ask for a logi truck to drop a crate and build a FB?

Intresting suggestion but needs more thinking. how do you go about spawning humvees on maps like muttrah and baracuda were the US depend entirely on air assets for transport.

Interesting, and can be improved, i think, if this ability will only works when 3 or more sq members close to SqLeader. This prevents "stealing" requestable cars from pool by rambos and small squads.

In which way You think it's fair? I thinl it's not. INS\MIL also may have a lack of good transport vehicles. In any case it's much possible that ins\mil gets additional vehicles ("Hey, Karim, can we take your fathers mule?") than request additional vehicle from military head quarters

That would be the method that makes the most sense...but with that said how often do you see people abandon trucks after using them? Or your SQ using a humvee for transport and parking it while you assist in building a FB...only to have another SQ take it and drive off, ignoring you requests to stop?
For me those things happen all to often. This results in your SQ being forced to proceed on foot because the APC squad is too busy playing "tank" or your transport chopper decided to see now strong the nose of his craft is by hitting the ground with it.
With this system your squad could quickly spawn at you main, request a light transport (if available) and be back to the teams current objective (be it a flag/cache or whatever) and not spend 10 minutes walking there, get in one firefight, and be forced to repeat wasting the time walking.
I'm sure people will say "well be more careful with assets then" but I doubt you've never had a round where you NEVER lost a single asset or had trouble requesting transport from your team.

Your right, I was implying that you'd need 3 other squadmates around you to request it.
As for my reasoning behind the non-conventional (more specifically I was refering to insurgency mode) armies having this ability is that between the ability to place hideouts without supplies, the scattered cache spawns and the many regular civilian vehicle that spawn in all areas of the map that the team wouldn't need more transport than they already have.
For example, Karbala (forgive me if the spelling is wrong) has civilian cars spawning in the streets and plenty of good places for hideouts.
Not to mention that the conventional armies will have to come to a cache to win, so they would come to you and therefore need more transport.
I wasn't including the milita when I said un-conventional armies...considering most of their maps are AAS maps requiring transport, sorry for the confusion.

As annoying as it is to have to walk a lot, and as annoying as it is when, as mentioned, the APC's go tanking and the Humvees do their own thing, this suggestion is completely unrealistic. It would just cause too much hassle to game dynamics I think.
Just imagine, your squad has an enemy group pinned down when all of a sudden, there's this magical puff of light and this transport is there (or parachuting from the sky). Well ****, the enemy just made their escape from a nonexistent-5-seconds-earlier vehicle.
------or------
You're a Little Bird pilot and you've just spotted a group of infantry sneaking towards a lightly guarded point, you radio it in and get ready to strafe when....wait, what's that? Why, now that the enemy squad knows they've been spotted, they're making a dash towards the point in a nonexistent-5-seconds-earlier vehicle.
I could go on, but I don't feel it's necessary. I feel that implementing this would take me back to vBF2 days. Walking is a hassle, but it really brings a team together if they want to win.

I appreciate your concern for possible abuse of this suggestion...however I must ask you to reread my OP as it does say that you can only make this request from your main base.
So as you can see you need not worry about your posted examples...as they can't happen with the system I suggested.

Indeed, my bad.

My apologies for an unnecessarily long post.
If it has to be from the main base, I'm less opposed, but still opposing because it would put less pressure on the APC's and other transports to return to base to grab troops in the long run.
Again, walking is a hassle, but soldiers still do a bunch of it.

True, but I don't see my suggestion making APCs less transport essentail than now. SLs can still call for APC transport in the field to go from objective to objective. And even then this would cause more effective troop movement.
For example,
Your on Karbala as an Infantry squad and your squad has just respawned at you main only to find that all your transport assets are in use/gone. You call for APC support but they are busy with other transportation/currently engaged/too far to assist. Normally you'd have 3 options.
- wait an unknown time until APC transport can arrive
- wait for an unknown time for a default humvee spawn to appear
- spend a long time walking and expose you squad to a large risk doing so
With this suggestion you are given a more effective means of transport without wasting time and giving the enemy too much time to set up a solid infantry defence against you.
Personally I can't find a issue with this suggestion as long as the proper limits are placed on it (proper limit on the map at once, time between requests, sq# limiations, etc.)

Hmm, does raise the question, if the Devs wanted 9 humvees to spawn every 20 minutes, wouldn't it be easier for both the coders and players to just do that?

Might aswell get a reward system for those APC that picks up squads that call for "pickup".

that is a really good idea
so would that be like only transport apcs can see the request to pick up ?
and how do you know which apc picks up squads only ?

Forgive me for not answering your question sooner.
While I see your point, back when this might have been added...there wasn't really a need for it.
With the way rally's worked player's didn't need transport as much as long as you SL had a well hidden rally AND was kept alive.
But with the rally changes with the previous version (which BTW I believe was a good way to stop the constant rally blitz attack) have lowered the attack rate on flags, so a form of limited transport would help these matters.
Also you would have to worry about there being 9 of these transports on the map every 20 minutes. As i stated in my OP there would be a limit of 3 allowed on the map at a time. If there are already 3 spawned then you can't request one. Keep in mind on most maps you'd only have enough players for at most 4 full infantry squads, and with a requirement of at least 3 members in a squad to request a vehicle you don't have to worry about 1-2 man squads taking all the humvees.

If this were to be implemented, then I think the required number of squad members should be at least 4 or 5. Having this number for the call in would require players to join squads to their limit and really play as a squad if they're going to effectively use the vehicle.
