just wondering if there will be any skyranes? it would be cool to have tanks dropped onto the field by a huge flying crane. just a thought.

The one thing i dislike about Vietnam era conflicts, all the hideous helicopter designs.

airlifting is possible but buggy, and without airlifting, this thing would be pretty pointless

That said I like the look of most Vietnam era helicopters personally, a lot of which have been upgraded since and continue to serve (Chinook, Huey, Cobra, Stallion, Littlebird).

to be fair, i can't see the skycrane being used a whole lot, in combat i mean. in 'nam, armour was used for things: base defence; search & destroy operations; route security; up North they were pretty decent at stopping border incursions. i'm guessing the skycrane was used to transport tanks that thad been immobilized "deep in the bush" (teehee) or vice versa back into it.
what i mean to say is, in the situations that PRV will give, they'll most likely be nothing more than infantry support or maybe at best be used for route security. in these situations, airlifting armour here, there and everywhere would pretty much be irrelevant.

Why would we need the sky crane I mean with choppers in the BF2 engine you can not lift stuff so what would be the point... Nice to have but not needed imo

Besides if it were possible I'd want a Droge drop Sheridan on a sled from a C-130 XD

This too would be nice to have but that wouldn't be necessary in PR:V:BF2 how ever if PR:A2 becomes successful which it will and they think about making PR:A2:V the possibilities would be awesome.

You pretty much forgot the most important one of them. The CH-46 Sea Knight, a.k.a. the Phrog.

Funny how pretty much most of them are USMC aircraft.

Anybody remember the Desert Combat AC-130 gunship?

The DCX version would carry jeeps and stuff inside, with a fully functional back trap.

I think its always had a back trap that worked (it does in DC now though anyway)

It might be better balanced if the BF2 version didnt have a tonna guns on the side.
Alternatively, that just makes it a faster, and probably less safer sky crane

Actually they were used a lot especially with the construction of a firebase they choppered in D7 dozers

and Case Back hoe's

and small containers to be buried and made into command bunkers


but why would we need this?

Funny you say this, i was looking at youtube videos of DC the other day and one of the comments was "What game is this, Project Reality?"

aye, but i meant in combat situations.

Were tanks frequently air dropped by a sky crane into the field? or were they "MECivac'ing" them out of the field?

Possible in 1942 not BF2 sadly.

A bit off topic but that is not true. The french army used armed helicopters in the Algerian War and U.S.A used some during the korean war.

Airlifting has been suggested but it will never happen.
