Mmkay, so I've got a sun flare and sun up in the sky, where it should be, yet ingame I don't see the sun in the sky at all, but I see a flare through the ground at some points.

in teh editor click Light, click 'set sun(flare) position' then set the sun and the flare to the same position, the best way is to look at where you want the sun to be then click 'set flare/sun TO camera position'

remember to do BOTH the sun and flare

the sun determines how light interacts with objects, teh flare is the texture that comes up when you look near the sun.

hope that helps :)

That's exactly what I've done! :P

Which is causing me to be confused as to why the sunflare is showing up under ground. :? ??:

I have that error in the editor all the time that it will flip the flare. You just have to edit it in the sky con file. It should be a negative number. remove the negative symbol.

Just do it as your last step or dont and one at all for now.

you need to place the Sun direction TO the camera and the Flare direction FROM the camera

its a lil bit tricky ...

Does the editor change somehow from the in-game flare? Cause your described method doesn't work for me.

Sundirection is pretty straight forward, look at the sun and use 'to the camera'.

But for flare:

'from camera' (no flare):

'to camera':

Which makes me think that it should be 'to camera' too for the flare? However I suffer from the same issue on my map with the flare being under the ground. Any clues?

Bump. Issue remains had no real clue how fix it. The direction coordinates are exactly the same as the sun direction like on all pr maps.

Note that I test my map always in the 1.0 test builds. But that shouldn't be a issue here.

Try removing the negative?

Lightmanager.sunDirection 0.560533/-0.590561/0.580552

To

Lightmanager.sunDirection 0.560533/0.590561/0.580552

Doesnt sun position control how shadows are cast? So unless your lightmaps are funky too, i wouldnt touch that.
Anyway, both positions should be the same, right?

My Flare direction had to be the inverse of the sun :s I couldn't have guessed that :D Thanks for the replies guys.
