2 man kit system weapon system, One carries the tripod, and the other the hmg. (must find a way to make this in kit system, perhaps the first selection of portable HMG gives you bipod, and the 2nd the weapon itself, in the same squad, same "kit".
Bipod must be deployed in order to deploy the hmg on it.
Probably hard to code as in lots of work to do, but I think this would bring a whole new array of realism to the game. Deploying HMGs inside buildings, balconies, rooftops, mountain tops, surprising the enemy as there are no firebases required for it.
This 2 man kit system could also be used to implement other systems such as Mortars or Rockets (insurgent style, metal rack and rockets).
Please before closing, consider that this is more a suggestion for a 2 man kit system add-on then a super HMG. Mortars would work just the same way, Base plate + mortar tube 2 man team.
I'm sure there is a lot of other realistic stuff we could add with a 2 man kit system. Not the mention the great bumping of teamplay this would create.
Thanks for your time,
Johnny

you've been on these forums for quite some time, and therefore you should know that this is a resuggestion.

The 2 man kit system or the Portable HMG?
I've searched the forum for deployable HMG's and couldn't find anything, however I don't doubt its been suggested.
However I wanna put the emphasis on the 2 man kit system here, not the hmg.
I think there's many possible applications for a 2 man kit in PR.
HMGs yes, but also: Mortars, Sniper Team (as in 1 shooter, 1 spotter/rangefinder), Insurgent rocket pads, Recoiless AT guns, Perhaps even Modern deployable HAT's like the russian Kornet (similar to a TOW/milan but mountable in 1-2 min and ready to engage Hard targets like Abrams up to 4km. It's operated by a 2 man team.)
What I'm saying is that such a 2 man kit system would give for great innovations and also great improvement of teamwork for classes already in-game like the Sniper.
However if a 2 man kit system has already been suggested, please pardon me and close this. If its not please give it a few days to see what the community thinks

No two man HMG is not a res but mortar is
I definitely agree but the second man job will be boring and no one will want to do it unless it is a spotter for mortar

I was thinking for the 2nd man it would be mainly spotting/bodyguard.
Sniper team: -1st man sniper rifle, pistol and patches
-2nd man assault weapon and Laser Rangefinder goggles, tripflares.
HMG team: -1st man bipod (like the fh2 lafayette mg34), rifle, goggles, patches & smoke.
-2nd man Main hm gun (that pops ontop of bipod), grenades and pistol.
Mortar team: -1st man Mortar tube, pistol and mortar rounds.
-2nd man Base plate, assault weapon and goggles/rangefinder, perhaps more ammo.
Of course in any of these late 2 examples nobody can use their kit or weapon until they have dropped their main load.
P.S: Another "inciter" could be to share all the points and kills between the 2 man kit. But I think that's gotta be hardcoded. Perhaps to the entire sq like building points.
The 2 men system would also greatly reduce any risks of spamming and Vanilla like environment. For all previously suggested kits or weapons system that we're discarded by fear of such treatment to the gameplay. You would need a competent communicating team of 2 to simply operate them, let along receiving grid's or additional support. Kind of like the tanks right now.

maybe the secind man could just be rifleman the man just has to give ammo?

AFAIK the 2 man kit system, i'm almost 100% sure i saw a thread like this a while back

The word "Hardcoded" comes to mind, but what do I know.

a few of the aussie gamers had a chat about something like this a while back, but the only way we could figure out how to do it was to make the item,( mortar, hmg, recoiless rifle, atgun, ) a vehicle and then animate it in two versions, static (firing mode) and mobile (being picked up by the inf carrying it) and even then we couldn't figure out how to make the transistions and stuff. but it did mean you had a mobile heavy weapon, that needed several people to move, but only one to fire and only when it was in static mode.

I like the idea if it can be implemented. I have thought of a similar system, but combining 2 vehicles together so that seating can be increased. However, a 2 man deployable HMG sounds great.
-Prowler- wrote:The word "Hardcoded" comes to mind, but what do I know.
Nothing. It's possible for the 2nd player to deploy a tripod, have the gunner be the only one able to use it, and then to pick it up and displace it. Any 'problems' with ammunition and such can be avoided by creative minds rather than an overly pessimistic approach.

It's in the ACE mod for ARMA2.
I say yes, But make sprinting either impossible or slower/less sprint.
Here's how i THINK it could work.
Step 1: Infantryman 1 pulls out Base (Whatever it is.. tripod.. whatever). He left click, which puts it on the ground similar to how a squadleader can put down a firebase.
Step 2: Infantryman 2 pulls out HMG, and left clicks near the Base. After a few seconds, it attaches
To re-pack it.
Step 1: Infantryman 2, lets say, Presses G while not on the HMG, which picks it up, but is delayed.
Step 2: Infantryman 1 presses G, and after a delay picks up the base.
Have these as kits that spawn at main, or if you request it at a crate it uses a quarter/half of the crate's "ammo value". Have only maybe 1 or 2 spawn at a time, and grouped. If one of the kits dissapear, the other one follows.

One way would be to only give it one clip of ammo, then you'd HAVE to have a rifleman with you

Yeah, not hardcoded, think like this: guy 1 has weapon, no bullets. (only 1 mag for self-defence). 2nd guy carries the .50cal ammo. I THINK this could work like this... you can only have 1 mag at a time. A HMG mag "costs" 10000 ammo points, which takes 10 rearm (+reloading time = 30 secs total).
Is there a way to be like... you can't rearm other weapons from a special ammo bag?

Maybe 2 boxes of ammo, one for each weapon team member, or say 3 - 4 mortar rounds each.
And I reckon reduce the number of magazines they get for their rifle, down to 4 each, so its only for personal defense.
But give them a couple of smoke grenades each, so as to cover themselves if they have to bug out in a hurry.

That's not a bad idea, That's going to be plan B in case we get hardcode problems with 2 men kits
But I'm sure its possible, Have you guys played FH2 a little? Seen that mg42 or mg34 lafayette? It's deployed like a patch, You have 1 time to get in, and as soon as you get off the mg, It goes back into the "patch" that you drop anywhere you want to get the mg again.
I found that way of dropping mobile assets very interesting and effective. Perhaps we could base the 2 men kit system on something similar.
Maybe one guy could drop the asset "like the fh2 patch lafayette" and then a 2nd man, with the Kit "2nd man gunner" can go on it, and only him can operate the asset?

.50s tend to use up their ammo really quickly with their extremely high ROF and limited mag. 1 mag + 1 resupplied by rifleman would be fail, the kit would be useless after 1 engagement.

I'd be good for a good 20 mins of intense firefight with 3 belts. Gotta single fire and aim your shots. Suppress the enemy with single shots, just as effective and scary for them trust me. When you got visual give it a couple bursts. Only when you have a fast moving priority target you need to unload the firepower.
I also wouldn't mind a slower rate of fire on the portable hmgs, like the old versions. I don't love a boosted rate of fire on my M2.
