When im starting PR the background with the dog tags pops up, then a few seconds later a message called "Pr.exe" pops up and says "PR.exe has stopped working windows is checking for a solution"

Btw other facts i should tell you I just got a new laptop so i had to reinstall bf2. After dling the PR 0.91 part 1 and 2 i tried it and i got the error so i thought i didnt have patch 1.5, but i already did.

wow, nvm i just fixed the problem like 5 seconds after posting the thread. i click run as adminstrator and it worked.. -.- sorry can someone lock please?*nvm it didnt fix it. it just starts my bf2 up then crashes back to desktop*

trying to patch standard BF2 (below version 1.41) will for some odd reason tell you that your version is already up to date. This is usually FALSE!
You have to install BF2 patch 1.41 (full) in order to be able to install 1.5 (incremental)!
(There is no full version of the BF2 1.5 patch.)

snipingcoward, would my laptop being a 64 bit and bf2 being a 32bit game make a difference? meaning would i have to change some options on my laptop in order to play aftering dling patches?

Generally there will not be problems running 32bit software on 64bit machines because the Operating System (OS) is "backwards compatible".

This depends entirely on your OS. Windows comes in different flavors, 32bit and 64bit versions. Even if your Laptop is 64bit capable quite often a 32bit OS is installed by default, then you don't have to worry about anything at all (except not being able to use all your RAM). The problematic differences between 32 and 64 bit OSs are usually driver related. This means that you might have trouble finding 64bit drivers for a certain piece of hardware. If you have all drivers installed, you should not have problems related to 64bit system.

Note: Infact, I have not come across a single problem posted in this forum that I can relate to only to 64 bit systems. (So they are either really rare or non-exsistent.)

Weird. I alse use W7 and got the same problem. Error window with "PR.exe has stopped working windows is checking for a solution"

Now I tired with "Run as adminstrator" and it seem to work. Gonna jump into a game in a few minute! Brb

Hi, I'm new to PR and I'm not terribly handy with computers so I'll try to describe my problem as well as I can manage. I got a disc copy of BF2 and installed it and tested it out, played fine. I had no trouble launching and joined an online match and played for a minute then closed it. I downloaded the setup for PR from Mod DB. I ran the wizard and got everything downloaded as far as I'm aware. So, I tried to launch PR, but got an .exe launch fail. So I changed the compatibility package to XP sp3 and ran as Admin. Now, The PR launch screen starts, then the BF2 launch screen starts , they sit there for a bit, then a black screen appears as if a game is about to launch, then after about 10 seconds it closes and both PR and BF2 close.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit if it helps. Please let me know if I left any information out. Thanks.

did you also patch your battlefield 2?
1.41 patch and 1.5 patch?

edit:just noticed from the other thread that you didnt patch bf2 correctly.

same problem on my friends laptop, he is running x86 vista and played 0.87 like a sunshine, but after installing the 0.91 client part 1 and 2, his PR and Battlefield 2 wouldnt start anymore, blackscreen and then ctd. no solution yet

I have the same problem, I have windows 7 32bit Ultimate. I installed bf2 and patched it to 1.41 and then 1.5. I started it up and it worked, so I then installed 0.917 1 of 2 and then 2 of 2 and it crashes to the desktop. It even affects the vanilla install because it crash when I try to start it as well.

I have vista 32 bit with 4 gb RAM, and XFX GeForece GTS 250 512 mb
crossair TWIN2x

the two dog tags comes up then the 2 battlefield 2 icon then it back to detoscope then the screen blinks black twice

What can i do??? i could play PR 0.87or what it was and alle the other patches before) but i always got a problem with PB. and in "0.87" i could only play one map before i did go back to detoscope.

PR needs to run @1024x768 or above
The problem could be that something is telling BF2 to load a resolution that your monitor or video card doesn't support. In my case it was my new widescreen LCD.

That "something" is actually 3 files in the "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles" directory. In that Profiles directory are 3 folders called 0001, 0002, and Default. Inside each of those 3 folders is a file called Video.con. You need to open each of those 3 Video.con files and search for the line that says "VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@75Hz". Change all 3 files to a resolution & refresh rate that you know the monitor and video card support, and BF2 should work like a champ again.
