Respawn - "noob question"

Hello guys,
maybe this question will cause an instant wave of facepalms all over the world, but I just dont get one thing. I just downloaded PR and red the Manual, then started for some singleplayer missions to learn how everything works. All fine until now, but I just dont get the respawn system. Every time I get shot down and there is now medic in range (or my body drops off some cliffs due ragdoll^^) I'm not able to respawn. I only get the advise to wait for a medic or to "give up". Both (if I wait too long or push the "give up" buttom) causes me to change the team automatically. After this the respawn timer appears and I could get back into the game. Is it my fault or is there no possibility to respawn in your own team? And why is there no respawn timer before I get switched to the other team?
thanks a lot
Tom

Does this happen when you are on on single player servers?
The answer to your question is that spawns work the same way as in vanilla battlefield 2. You get shot, you "give up" and then in 20 or so seconds you spawn back in on your own team.
I think the reason you are getting switched is that some coop servers force you to be on bluefor (american, british etc) so if you are playing as mec or insurgent and you die, you get switched teams.
Welcome to Project Reality, good choice.

Your body stays on the ground for 5 min after you die to allow a medic to get to you in time. If there is no medic around you can press give up, and you will then be able to respawn when the normal respawn timer is up.
The respawn timer does run from the exact moment you died though, so if you wait 2 min before giving up you will not have to wait 45 sec more, but will be able to respawn instantly.
I have no idea why you get teamswitched when you give up, but I assume its because you have autobalance on and the other team has less players than yours.

I think this is the case, when you start your single player game uncheck autobalance

Thank you guys, autoteambalance was the problem =)
I started coop-server whith an even number of bots, so the team I joined allways had one more player. This caused the game to switch me to the other team
every time I died.... strange thing

??:
Anyway, problem solved <3
See you online when I'm ready to get owned

You are more than ready to get royally pwned right away

But if you want to fight back with success, it might be good idea to hunt down a few bots first.
Welcome to the forums and PR!

Except vanilla bf2 doesn't have give up or spawn wait

Only have the 10-15 second wounded time and you spawn instant your "dead".
