HMGs in pr 0.91

first, thanks for attention
I noticed the hmgs in pr (.50 cal of fobs humvees and more vehicles...) are not very accurate like the reality; i think they have too many deviation. The .50 rounds i think are very accourate at 500m, and less. Over the 500m the rounds can start deviation like the current version of pr.
It' s just my opinion, thanks for attention again
keep it up DEVs you are doing an awesome work with this mod

im pretty sure it does, i was firing at the gas station from the south bridges on al basrah, and the rounds were spread about 1 meter, but thats not too bad for that distance i guess
however, it sucks that the SP version doesnt have the 4x zoom. is that just to prevent utter rape of bots?

They should put scopes on the HMGs just like on the SAW/light machine guns

Agreed, since they already have the 4x zoom on the HMGs, but let them decide

It wouldn't matter, bots see what they see regardless of zoom level. If they see you, they see you, even when unscoped.

I was talking to some Sgt who is a 0331 (Machine Gunner) and he says he can hold a 10 inch group with a .50 cal HMG from 1000 yards away.
I wanted to pop to the position of attention and raise the bullshit flag, but I don't know anything about HMGs and barely a thing about MMGs (I've shot about 400 rounds through M240s all together).

Well considering that an 0331s sole purpose in life is to live and breath machine guns and on top of that 1000M's is actually under the M2s maximum EFFECTIVE range for a point target, I would say a SGT of Marine machine gunners with years of training, experience and leadership could probably do just that.
Just like I would tell you that I could get "steel on steel" with a 60mm mortar at over 3000ms. Trust me, 60mm mortars are the most inaccurate of the mortar family, but a well trained Marine can do it.

Play nice Barb
I find that the MGs are accurate enough to do pretty much what you need.
the arguement that 'X soldier/marine' is skilled enough IRL to do Y, doesn't really work in PR since its YOU the player who is the skilled or unskilled person.
I think the reason for teh deviation is to prevent sniping with the 50cal, encouraging suppressive fire.
Which is reasonable given teh view distance.

if the effective range of a .50 cal MG is over 2000m or something then thats half of most maps and the entire length of some smaller ones.
It is a scaled game. Its not reality.

If the mortar is not accurate, nobody can be sure to hit the target with it.
It's like if you are given a rifle with a slightly bent barrel and told to hit a distant target. Even a perfect marksman can not do that in the first shot, since he has no way of knowing the deviation he will have to counter.
Maybe you mean that the mortar is accurate but difficult to use?
And even if that's the case, you would still need to know the wind at different altitudes etc to be sure to place your "steel on steel"

As far as I know they don´t use scopes on the .50 cals normaly. Isn´t it for the same reason we don´t have scopes on the helicopter gunnerposition? Which would be to keep the overview and not to have tunnel vision (scope). They aim with the tracers.
But maybe someone who has already driven a humvee should answer that.

scopes are used extensively on support weapons such as the m2 browning. only reason it is not on the model is because of it having to be modeled etc.
4x zoom on them was needed though and was therefore implemented.
