Freezing etc on a 8600GT, lol?

Hey,
First of all, I'd like to say that PR looks amazing, and loved parts of it that I have played. However I haven't been able to get the full experience....
My problems:
- When a bullet 'tings' with the black edging etc, black flickering occurs often, this also happens when in wounded mode. The FPS drops a lot too. Sound repeats itself too. Ofte4rn have to alt tab, and re-alt tab back in to remove it.
- General FPS lag
- Computer runs very slowly.
- I have to run the graphics on VERY LOW settings to even play the game.
- I get disconnected sometimes from servers even though my internet connection is fine.
- Menu is very slow at loading.
What I've already done:
- Reinstalled BF2, along with PR mod, and yes, patched in correct order etc.
- Graphics card drivers already up to date.
- Defragment
- Disk Cleanup
- Removed unneccessary startup processes.
- Got rid of programs that didn't need to run at same time.
- Checked direct X is of latest version.
System Specs are more than capable of running a 2005 game:
Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
Memory:
2048MB RAM
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Operating System:
Windows XP Service Pack 2
I can run various up to date games, modern warfare 2, cod4 etc
Please help, I'd love to be able to play this game a lot more comfortably!
