i am curious to see other peoples view on the so called "unclaimable" assets (humvees, teknicals, etc)

im sick and tired of people stealing my squads vehicle because its "unclaimable",, i take my squad into a building to clear it we come outside and one or two jerks steal it leaving us stranded

what is everyone's opinion on this carjacking phenomenon,, do u TK, do u complain to admin,, whats there left to do ?

since my squad layout, size and strategy especially on INS maps depends heavily on my mode of transport I definately defend my squad's right to a vehicle we have removed from main,

in that same spirit, it is my squad's responsibility to keep that vehicle safe and not abandon it

I usually prevail on the person's morals first, as he might not realise he's taken a vehicle being used by another squad. Failing that I contact an admin, however I'm perfectly happy to share vehicles with other squads if they ask.
do u TK
Never TK unless you are facing a griefer, always contact an admin, always take a screenshot and post on their forums if an admin isn't present. Taking the law in to your own hands is foolhardy as well as troublesome as admins cannot see who is in the wrong. If you are TKing because your server has no admins...play on servers that do have admins.

thanks rudd for your opinion, im not naming any names but yes i did contact the admin and he said it was alright because it was "unclaimable", also it wasnt the first time that he had done it and furthermore i was on insurgency so we were very dependant on the vehicle

If you take the vehicle out of main (We're talking light transport here. apcs, tanks, and other heavy assets have their own rules on each server), it's yours.

For example, my squad takes a humvee out of main. It's our humvee, and if someone takes it from me I usually ask them politely to return it ingame. If no response, I then usually contact an admin.

HOWEVER, making a "Humvee" or "technical" squad is not allowed. Humvee's shouldn't be used like tanks. No vehicle should be used like tanks. Unless it's a tank. Then use it like a tank. :3

Don't forget that Mr Rudd is often playing with Mumble, so he can talk directly to other blues....

Make sure you park your hummer pretty close to where your squad is operating, to make it obvious that you are using it. If someone does take it, ask nicely in chat, I have taken a few cars not knowing anyone was using them before and people mostly just ask for it back nicely. If you start raging straight away I doubt people will listen to you.

lolwat? thanks for informing me of this PR rule, i never knew. God forbid someone wants to use an asset, rather then grab it as a sniper then drive off and leave it.

i'm still personally waiting for the game where i get to try out a 4 man team crewing 2 humvees transporting a 6man inf squad and then moving up as one, each element providing cover for the other.

Did it on Archer a while back, (when it was USMC, not canucks), and it works like a charm, you can lay down a lot of fire, and are very effective at transporting troops. It worked a lot better than I thought. I had 3 Humvees with driver and gunner.

yeah the transport hummer convoy is pretty fun, we don't really do it anymore since on the relevant maps the strykers are better at the task, but on the 16 layers its really good.

I would usually agree but that would only be under certain circumstances. Regardless of the rules on any server, (there's a lot of stupid rules floating around at the moment) if I see an abandoned vehicle that has been clearly left by a squad that has moved half way across the map, that's a different story.

I've seen some HMMVV transport squad in Karbala, work specially well IMO.

My suggestion IS, though, try not to take more assets than needed - like, you are a 6-man infantry squad. All you need is a transport HMMVV, 2 Gun HMMVVs or 1 Trans HMMVV and 1 Gun HMMVV for protection. But give preference to strykers (it's their job to trans you actually), and KEEP Assets number use to a MINIMUM (don't take a logi truck AND a transport HMMVV AND a gun HMMVV for a joy ride, please).

I take it your not leaving the 50 manned so you could leave the medic in the driver seat if you dont plan on going far.

Two humvees (with .50s) supporting and transporting an infantry squad can be very effective. Has worked well on Ramiel, for example. The use of Mumble helped alot too.

I really can't understand why humvees should be considered as cardboard boxes with wheels. It's like people think that they can only be used to leave main base, get into the ACTION and then just leave them there without any use.

1. Ask politely
2. Contact an admin
3. Server rules gentlemen. Leave the server if you don't like it.

No, pretty much everyone is saying that if they don't give it back when asked nicely and admins don't get involved log off and find a server with better teamwork.

There is absolutely no reason to intentionally tk. Ever. Allstop. No exceptions. Either the admin removes the TKer or the server isn't worth playing. (For no reason is TK acceptable)

getting car-jacked in combat...what has this world come to...haha

in terms of seeing an empty humvee, where a squad is nearby, it's common sense really. but it does happen as you point out so it's the ol' pressing K and asking politely trick.
