Lately I've seen a lot of players with unpronounceable names in the server.
Glad you came up with such an original name, but when I need you and I don't know how I should call you...I will probably ignore it.

Here's a chart for reference:




I never seen the point to have a million of numbers in your name anyway. The only username I've got that got numbers in it is Nyte86, where 86 is my birth year. But people can still call me Nyte and I will get it.

Ye I find it really annoying too but I just try and call them part of there name but then that might take a bit to work out

The only reason for numbers in a name is if you can't sign up with your normal name, like I couldn't register an account called [R-DEV]Rhino for some really odd reason, so I had to make the O a 0 instead which isn't too miss leading, but when someone has there name in full 1337 speak its pretty gey. A few numbers on the end of a name is fine too but again, only reason for that is if you can't sign up with your normal name.

I think good topic. That annoys me too. Actually most of the time I'm wondering how can someone remember that nickname later.

I agree, I mean how hard is it to come up with a name un-1337 people such as myself can actually figure out quickly enough to be useful!!

Take mine for example, I will answer to Tin, or Foil, or Hat, or any combination of them.

Being totally unaware of the use my nick would get as this was my first online name, i just picked something odd (ploddit a childhood nickname from my Dad), but happily now more experienced I like it, short, easy to pronounce (except for French) and easy to remember.

Still weird all these people on Mumble calling me Ploddit though!

All the type killer I find a bit funny.

I chose my name very carefully, Rudd_Medicman <- Rudd is my surname and is a one syllable name people can call me, medic is my prefered kit outside of officer

I always shorten my SMs names to 1 syllable if I can.

I agree 100%. It can be a real chore when squadleading spending time just trying to fiqure out the pronunciation of some names in the squad. Do yourself and your squad leaders a favour and pick a name that your average literate human being can read. Welsh train stations and place names are easy by comparison to some of the names I've had in my squads, but then again I'm welsh.

I found the opposite, people tend to lengthen my name to either brumbrum, brumbum, bumbum or even brumbrumzor.

Well most people get my name right, but for some reason most americans pronounce it like Cheeeditor or other ramblings that are wrong, its like shed but with a C so Ched. I just don't get how hard it is the pronounce.

It can be annoying, especially if your squad leading. Hey you! ugh...namazorus? it that how it pronounc- DEAD.


Anyways, Ya my in-game is Prowler98, simply because -Prowler- was already taken(I think it's mine from a while ago but I can't remember the pass or e-mail xD) people tend to shorten it to Prow, or if the know me well enoguh I've been called Prowly or Prowls. Only thing that annoys me is when people call me Pro, I'm prow not pro =P

i agree haha it's always like "oh watch out one-ny..nu..one-nugthree...forget it you're dead"

thing is people mispronounce my name too. i've had oldbleed, oldbread just to name a few. i still know who they're talking to though haha
