PR Withdrawal Symptoms?

I think I am going a little nuts here.
A month or two ago, My ISP started acting like complete garbage, capping its customer's connections, causing me to consistantly getting 400+ pings at the lowest. It also cuts out from time to time for no apperent reason. So, that means no PR. I can usually stay in a server for 5-10 mins before I lag out with 1000+ spikes, (Not exactly the best for teamplay either). This ISP service was never amazing, but at least before I could play on several servers with a ping of 80-140.
Living in a rural area, I don't have many options for an internet provider, and am stuck with a year left in the contract. Somehow, this devious evil corperation will boost your signal for a few hours if you call to complain, and then tell you to do a speedtest. Of course, with a boosted signal, the speedtest results are inflated. I managed to capture this one while my signal was capped around 5 PM earlier today in my timezone.
Rather dispicable if I do say so myself. :d uh:
My ISP is also unable to even pass the packet loss test on
Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test, giving me an asterisk for a grade.

I managed to keep myself entertained with some single player games on steam and xbox, but I miss PR!
The PR community probobaly the overall best online community I have ever been around.
Hopefully I will be able to join it again soon.

I am not a contract expert, but does altering the service by that much like your case isn't braking the contract? Might wanna check that out.
Anyways, we'll wait for you, and will always be waiting. Good luck!
And LOL @

Haha.
Good luck man, seriously.

I don't know how things work in the US but basically they're not keeping their side of the deal (providing connection as agreed) so why should you (continue paying)?

Because there's bound to be something in the contract about that

Yeah just googled clearwire and they got a lot of unhappy customers. Too bad OP, you have to do some serious SL tactics to get past this

Maybe you could try a pay & go usb dongle, I used one when my cable modem broke and was waiting for a new one. Got ok pings with it. enough that i could play inf but wouldnt try flying with one.
By this i meant just to play PR, not to replace your current connection.

it has been over 8 months that i have been an exchangie in Belgium. Ohh how i do miss pr :s the 0.9 and so many new things and maps... gah.
Just have to enjoy the things here in life : )
hope you'll find a way to either go around the contract, maybe getting a nother contract at the same time. have those double connections you can get for your "working" and home pc's... or just send angry emails and phonecalls to up your connection..

NONONO!!! NO!
NO!
You know that if you are polite you are bound to get much better answers? Seriously!
I had some issues with my internet. I was mad, and phoned them, mad. I don't know why, but he didn't solve my problem. I called again 5 minutes later, someone else answered. I was polite. And she fixed it, efficiently, and no one got mad
Trust me. Try calling in calmly and ask if there is something wrong with your internet, and if it is possible to upgrade the speed.
Trust me.

threaten to quit your service. At least with verizon, they usually try to entice you to stay with sweet deals(usually free), better customer service, and they will most likely escelate the problem to a higher tech level. (all in my experience, of course)

Same, but be polite, and in the end say (depending in the context):
It's gonna take long to fix.
"Alright, thank you for the information. By the way, which one is faster: for me to cancel the contract or for you to fix it?"
They can't do anything about it.
"Alright, thank you. Is it possible for you to cancel my service? Alright, do it."
Good luck!

It would seem the deal the OP has signed has a penalty for cancellation prior to the expiration date. Otherwise I have no idea why he'd stick with such a crappy company.
EDIT: Yes, correct. There even appears to be a class action complaint against them for that:

Try A rocket stick by like rogers, or AT&T. In the country it works better

Also look into satellite internet. Save you money in the long run

Sucks to your internets =(
Ask them why it's so limited, and why the line connection is rated D.. =\
Also, how much are you paying? Compare it to a service such as AT&T or Rogers.. which is pretty much anywhere in North America ^^
If you say:
"I've been a customer for XX months/years now, and I've been looking at other ISP's and it's actually cheaper for me to switch over to the XXXX plan provided by XX-X (company). If you could match the service for that plan for cheaper, I would gladly stay a customer."
