Mic isn't working well, or not./Fixed

Since the last 2 days my mic stopped working (you can hear me, but soft). It is almost in my mouth when talking. And I also got a weird noise. I already checked if it was muted (I checked the switch and configuration), it wasn't. I couldn't use it without a +10db boost, as 20 and 30db will cause problems. I can't identify my sound card I think it is a onboard one.

It worked before I sent my PC to the store for a repair and a new video card.

Operating system: Vista 32-Bit Service Pack 2
Motherboard: AsRock ConRoe 945G-DVI

By the way I changed my settings at PR multiple times and it didn't worked.

Please help me! I want to play PR again!

Check cables. Make sure they are FULLY seated in the correct holes.
Good luck

They are in the right holes, the mic is in the pink one and the one for the audio is in the green one. I checked the cables, they aren't damaged. I "broke" 2 microphones in 5 months.

Check that your recording levels and microphone boost are set properly. Open Control Panel -> Harware and Sound -> Sound. Select Recoring tab and the sound card & connection combination you are using and click Properties. Check Levels tab and make sure recording level is high enough. Check the other tabs to see if there is a setting called Microphoe Boost and enable it if it's not activated yet.

The problem is fixed! I probably pushed the wrong button which made my microphone boost disappearing.
