Hey there...Well I have this problem, I can't install PR, the error says:

'Setup was unable to create the directory

"C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\*.tmp(now it says is-AHLUV.tmp, but keeps changing)"

Error 5: Access is denied'

I tried everything I've known

Ran as administrator
Gave permissions to every single profile
Dunno what else :\

I hope you can help!

Thanks very much!

PD: I'm using Win 7 x64 (64 bit)

Welcome to the forums, my impatient young padwan! As you know, not everyone is so familiar with computers that they could help everyone and due to things like day jobs we, who know something, are not available 24/7.

According to your description, you have something wrong with your Temp folder permissions. Try to open your C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local folder, locate and select Temp subfolder. Click it with your secodary mouse button and select Properties. On Properties window, switch to Security tab and see what it says.

I have 3 profiles, and they are all with full control permissions.

Ok, if I've understand correctly, you have several user accounts and some (or all) of them are not allowed to write to a file in your temp folder.

What files you have in your temp folder and are you able to delete them? If you have no programs running you can safely delete everything you don't need anymore in that Temp folder.

Those user accounts then, are they regular users or administrator accounts? Thus are they members of Local Administrators group?

Do you have UAC on and if it is, at which level it's set to?

Do you have a specific need for several user accounts?

I think you misunderstood, I have three accounts in the PC, and they have admin permissions such as read, write, modify, etc

Tried deleting Temp and error persists
I have UAC deactivated(last level)

PR.917 needs to run @ 1024x768 or above.
The problem could be that something is telling BF2 to load a resolution that your monitor or video card doesn't support. In my case it was my new widescreen LCD.

That "something" is actually 3 files in the "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles" directory. In that Profiles directory are 3 folders called 0001, 0002, and Default. Inside each of those 3 folders is a file called Video.con. You need to open each of those 3 Video.con files and search for the line that says "VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@75Hz". Change all 3 files to a resolution & refresh rate that you know the monitor and video card support, and BF2 should work like a champ again.

Examlpe;
"VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@60Hz"

Hope it helps

So you have the line "VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz" in every video.con file in your user profile and default profile folders?

Do you have BF2 & PR installed to a nonstandard location?

And are you trying to run PR or without administrator rights?

Bumping a 5 year old thread won't help you.. I suggest you make a new thread with the problem
