PR CO Training?

Hi all,

Commander training? On a dedicated server maybe?, or on several dedicated servers?

Like once every fortnight maybe?, or maybe once every month?

Commander training, where you suggest what activity-area/s, you would like to recieve some training in?

Or where the instructor suggest what activity-area/s, you need to recieve some training in?

How does the above sound to you, as the PR player who would like to get some feedback in order to skill up in example:
  • Your battle-plans
  • Your ability to command a PR team
  • Your ability to organise PR players
  • Your ability to understand PR players
  • Your ability to understand the PR battle-dynamic

What do you think?

Would there be enough interest from the community, to field teams in the training?

Could it be organised in a way, where the CO player in training, at first would recieve feedback to a prepared battle-plan from the instructor/s, and then after having processed the plan in a round, recieve feedback from both the instructor/s and the team?

It would have to happen on a case-by-case basis. No way would 64 players be willing to be there for one persons training.

You could simply do it by having someone spectate the match and 'shadow' the person commanding.

In regards to getting enough players, you could always try and get a public server on board, perhaps a TG password night or something like that?

That way, you don't have to worry about player numbers, and (in the case of TG) you also shouldn't have to worry about public players not obeying the commanders orders.

Could be interesting...

But I wouldn't try to get a team going. I'd suggest that a group of COs meet and like you described speak through battleplans or ways how to command a PUBLIC server team etc

After that meeting, those COs join a public server (an unprepared real public team) just like it is in the reality in PR or maybe a server (like TG or any community server that is informed about it and enforces the CO rules)

My point is to ensure that the COs don't meet a tourny-like team or a well prepared team but a team that is met in daily PR life.
Unprepared, x Sls not following orders, etc...

All in all I'd say it is best to work together with one community to get this project going. sounds good!

Definitely an interesting idea. From what I've heard from this community you are one of the better COs in PR Michael and I personally would like to see some of your "work". As said above it is going to be hard to have 64 players willing to be there for one player's training but how about some youtube videos with you commanding?

Well I think there are at least 64 people in the community that would be willing to participate.
I will.
It would be better to practice with a captive audience because it eliminates the variables like SL not obeying, which I agree is part of the challenge of being a CO but it makes learning much more difficult.

Sounds like a very useful tip.

Yes, there would be a TeamSpeak/other media-meeting, before and after a round. Those meetings, could with the accept of the player in training, be deployed into a thread with videos from the round it self too.

I think, though, that it has to be the player in training, who decide whether stuff like that should be aired in the forums. Not all will like everybody from the community to go watch their strength and weaknesses.

True words, but maybe the participant, (the person in training that is), should be the one setting the difficulty level, in regard to either using an unprepared team or not.

Maybe it should be mandatory for participants, that they create a battle-plan at first - then recieve feed-back from the instructor/s- then decide to change X in the plan or not, and/or to get feed-back a second time - and first then, take command of a team?

Maybe it will, but we can always give it a try. who knows what come out of such training after 6 months? maybe 10-20 skilled PR CO players doing their part to raise the overall skill-level in the community?

In regard to videos with me...naa, my voice is monotone and I have a reputation for long, boring waterfall-speeches when I battle. People would fall in sleep, thus not a positive outcome for the viewer.

True words, however, I think it should be up to the participant, whether we use an unprepared real public team fo rthe battle-phase, or not.

Good idea. Thanks.

Well, in case a server is deployed on board the program, like TG or any similar, it could be that 64 players would join for a couple of CO training rounds, one time every month?

Dont mind helping anyone with becoming a better commander. If anyone wants guidance or a review of their actions, you can add me on xfire and join your round to see how you do.

We should probably have some kind of field training. For commander squad leader and squad members ofcourse. Maybe in COOP (Al basrah would be good).

is 64 player per 2 commanders C:

besides, I think if you indeed have a shadower, you will be able to command on TG every night, they will surely accept someone as a beginning professional commander, I would!
