Is griefing/stupidity a big problem in this game?

Hi there (yes, I did search)

I was thinking DLing this mod once I get my gaming PC fixed (in a few weeks) because it looks quite interesting. However, with friendly fire on all the time I'm kinda worried about griefing. I'm also worried that I may run into the problem of other BF games/mods of idiots taking all the vehicles then crashing them.

So... is griefing really bad in this game?

Thanks

occasionally you get a prat who comes along with no intention other than to piss people off.

however I'd say PR servers are on average very well admined, and these people don't last long.

Welcome to the game and forum, you'll find a thousand great players for every prat :)

Most PR servers don't tolerate any nonsense.

People will take vehicles (esp. more convetted assets like tanks/jets/helis), but unlike BF2 many vehicles require a driver, AND a gunner; so it's unlikely people will charge off solo.

Also, PR operates a kit request system; you need to be a Crewman to operate heavy vehicles, and a Pilot for air-assets.

Most morons who WOULD just jump in a vehicle and get it crashed straight away aren't aware how to obtain these kits, and as a result can't even start the engine (and are killed if they stay in the driver seat for more than 10 seconds without one!)

With PR as a whole operating on the premise of near-realism, most non-serious gamers steer clear of this mod, being uninterested by the high respawn timers, lack of spawn points, and lack of instant pewpew action.

TL;DR - PR is a mod that targets a specific playerbase, as such it's unusual we come across people not of a semi-intelligent mindset.

The mod has not that many players there may be 10 people that griefs in total, I am not playing alot anymore, but I have played since 2007 and I cant remember many griefers or cheaters, thats some of the upsides of playing on a niche mod with a old engine.

I think a big problem is that sometimes people grief without meaning to. And thats ok, but even if its an accident the entire team starts flaming, which in turn can drive many people away.

I had one earlier on op. barracuda he started building FOBs and razor wire around mine and my squadmates hueys... was well annoying thankfully it was only coop and he is apparently getting perma-banned... But i honestly reckon the removal of training has gotten rid of many of the would-be a**hats
And welcome to the forums looy!

Some US servers have problems with griefers.

From some idiot planting C4 all over the US main base on kashan desert, all the way to US team on muttrah J Damming there own carrier.

They come and go really fast so they dont get banned.

They grab helicopters and ram friendly helicopters.

It happens all the time.

I rarely witness it personally, the majority of PR players are mature and team-orientated.

PR filters out most griefers because it requires patience and a good attitude, although the high usage of VOIP and the impact of disrupting teamwork gives those remaining a lot of ammunition.

They primarily take advantage of poorly administrated servers and foolish squad leaders who entertain them with emotional responses and fail to use the kick function.

Regardless they're a very insignificant element of the PR community which IMO is of a higher standard than most online games.

Just like everyone else said before me: intentional griefing is very rare, and it is even more rare that the griefing affects you. I say if you are a dedicated heavy vehicle operator like helis/tanks you will meet one every 1 out of 30 rounds(which is very good since one round tends to last longer than in other games, so you can play through 4 hours while playing only 2 rounds), if you are dedicated infantry then almost never.

Yeah there used to be a few habitual griefers but once they got permabanned from multiple servers over and over (and thus had to keep buying CD keys to keep doing it) they stopped. I believe those two stopped around 0.7/0.8ish and it hasn't been a real issue since.

I did have a griefer jump on mumble the other night and global while everyone was in game asking 'what server u on... i can't see it, how do i start pr' etc etc, but everyone just alt-tabbed, locally muted him and the problem disappeared. As soon as a griefer gets ignored, that whole sense of self worth they get from it shrivels up like their nether-regions and they crawl back under the rock whence they came.

nah that doesnt happen sometimes you will get TKed accidentally but if someone TKs you intentionally you can report them to an admin also TK are the only thing that is displayed on the kill board :) and you dont get a death point when you give up so thats a plus

... mostly every one is wellbehaved unlike other mods... the mod its self supports and encourages teamwork and discourages bad behavior ... people who purposaly TK get kicked or banned ... if you TK by accident just admit you didnt check the play map before shooting .. PLUS if you Do shoot a riendly a Cease fire message pops up on your screen .. also try not to shoot unless getting shot upon.

vehicles are only able to be used with 2 people .. suchas tanks apcs .. you need a driver and a gunner .. and you CANT use gunner if you dont have a driver or you automaticaly die *thats a big one*

just stick with your squad and ask as many relevant questions that come to your mind. and im sure your squad leader will be more than happy to answer for you.

I encounter asset stealers and team killers everyday in Project Reality, huge problems in my opinion and most of the time admins don't do anything about it or aren't on the server.
