I have never had a problem so far, have you updated your drivers and made it run as admin and in compatibility mode for win xp or win vista

I dont have Win7 so I'm just going off what I've seen other people say but make your shortcut run PR in XP compatible mode and add "+restart" to the end of the target field like so:

Updating all drivers is usually the first thing you should when using a new PC. Just because you just got it doesnt mean all its drivers are up to date, so its best to look to see if new ones are available. And dont give up, I know some PC problems can be a real pain in the A$% but as long as you can access the internet you should be able to find a solution to the problem if you look hard enough and listen to enough advice {on forums like this one} PR is well worth the time.

Don't get that Driver doctor thing, it will cause more problems IMO.

Also, have you reinstalled BF2 and PR since you got your new PC or did you transfer it from the old Hard Drive?

I remember I had same problems (win7) but managed to fix it, was something about the shorcut. Try to run PR in windowed mode (I dont rememb how), that way it will display what error ur having during the crash.

Change your PR shortcut to the following [if you have the 32bit version of win7, remove the (x86)]:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +fullscreen 0

Then when you run that shortcut, it should still crash but an error will come up.

My best suggestion is to go to your "\My Documents\" folder, and delete the whole Battlefield 2 directory in there. Then load up BF2, and once you log into your account in BF2 you can exit and start PR properly :)

I have Windows 7 and all you need to do is go to the shortcut, press Properties > Comaptibility > Run as Administrator, or if that doesnt work, make the same thing as above but add compatiblity for Windows XP sp3

it's allways sad to see someone leaving, but I immediately had to think of all those awol texts in the bf series:

are you goin awol soldier?! do not leave the field of battle, (or you will be shot). achtung! du verrichterschwindt, deserture wirden erschossen. don't you leave soldier, we need you back here. I'd love to place the nva/vc text of bfvietnam but sadly my computer doesn't handle the bfvietnam sounds anymore since vista and my vietnames sucks anyway:S

hope this plays the ol'heartstrings for you and make you restart vigorously on trying those fixes Rhino talks about ;)

YEA Windows 7 + PR,Punkbuster = B*TCH AND A HALF :D .... I have XP and windows 7 64 bit on my computer VIA partition .. so upon load up i either choose Xp or winows 7 ... basicaly choosing between 32 or 64 bit usage ... since bf2 is 32 bit capable .. i am having no more issues ...

when i tried using pr on windows 7 My punkbuster would NOT stop giving me problems .. when i get back in 3 months i will 100% try Rhinos +restart hotfix idea .. if not . .. i dont know what i will do ahha

How long did it work for ?
What changed between working, and not working states ?
Do other 3D games work ?
Excellent choice

mate its about your GPU. if you have AA over x8 in ATi Catalyst, BF wont start, because the engine cant handle that. lower it to max x8 and you should be fine.

I had the exact same problem last week. I know it sounds stupid but this is how I fixed it...

Install patch 1.5 twice
