Vietcong as enemy instead of NVA

First of all: Thanks for making this mod possible :)

Can you put in the vietcong as enemy in most maps instead of the organised NVA?
Its mostly been a guerilia warfare and not an open battle of two well organised armies.

I hope you guys have played "Vietcong - Fist Alpha" before and add some of their game features too:
a small handmap as first person model to be held in hand and please make it so only the officers have them.
limited vehicle use: mostly only HUey for insertion, extraction and MedEvac. (like in current Operation Barracuda)

We need tunnels and hideouts and small villages in the thick jungle - the enemy is hidden everywhere and DOESNT have a fortified mainbase ;)
im thinking about the insurgent-mode for PR in that case.

And even if you make maps like "Hue" or "Halong", please make it insurgent mode with 90 innocent civillians on 10 Vietcong Guerillia Fighters

OK, i hope thats all and it didnt sound angry or like a boss or teacher  i just want it to become a great mod with most possible realism ;)

I suggest you do some reading in the PR:V section of the forums. It's been mentioned several times that PR:V will contain both the NVA and the Vietcong.
And I wouldn't worry about the map layouts, the guy(s) working on this has a long experience with Vietnam mods.

Don't worry ;)

The Viet Cong can be considered guerrillas today, but the NVA was the official army

firstly the nva where most of the time a guerilla army that rarely engaged the americans in full battle in regiment or even battalion sizes but ambushed them and ran before the artillary and tac air could hit them hard. the nva replaced fallen viet cong especially after the Tet offensive. the vietcong had effectivly destroyed themselves dureing the american counter attacks and the nva filled thier shoes.
even in the DMZ the NVA played a big cat and mouse game with the marines.

secondly i know everyone wants tunnels and thats fair enough. now the engine doesnt support it but thats ok becuase the tunnels the vietcong made where limited to one major area in vietnam which was chu chi district north east of siagon which was thick forest and michilin rubber plantations mainly.

the tunnels themselves where started by the viet minh against the french and when the 25th infantry built there base in chu chi they built it over a tunnel complex with one guy still in it . for a long time the base was haveing incident after incident with out being infiltrated, they couldnt figure it out. this guy came out at night cuased trouble and went back in his tunnel since he couldnt get out of the base it was so large that his tunnel was covered.

there where a few other places with tunnel or long bunker but it was only in chu chi where the true tunnel complexes where found becuase of the clay there allowed the vietnamese to dig them

-wasn't there a rule that made it impossible for newcomers to the forums to create topics before their tenth post? especially on the suggestion subforum?

look pvt pirate, we're all excited about this but you should keep in mind the engines capabilities, especially it's shortcomings, tunnels on any grand scale are not really possible, caves are ok and mulitple caves could make a small tunnel but not anything the size as to simulate real tunnel warfare or the vc's use of them. as mentioned above tunnels weren't that general either. the map for only squadleader and simulating it to be actually held isn't really possible either, nor is it helpful as you wouldn't ever find your squad again if you spawned in the wrong place or later than your squad if you were a squadmember.
furthermore popular belief is that the vc did most of the fighting, this might be true for some regions, but after the tet offensive the nva became far more important.

the dev team is an experienced group of purists that will do anything to keep a high standard of realism, seeing how they're doing pr now I think we can more than trust them to deliver a good mod.
also, suggesting things before even an alpha build has been released is pretty useless, after the devs released somethhing they are content wit I think everyone'll be free to cry havoc and suggest things that are really missing.
