Question on Naming Conventions

I think some new abbreviations are in order!

One will soon no longer be able to say "Wanna play some PR?" as the answer will invariably be "Which one do you mean, BF2PR, ARMA2PR, or PR vietnam?". Should BF2PR remain just "PR"?

I for one think writing out PR:ARMA2 is a bit too much, maybe its fine, but I'd like it a bit more concise. I think that PRV for project reality vietnam is pretty good, but PRA for PR:ARMA2 and PRB for BF2 :P R makes me think that PR:ARMA2 is the "A" mod while BF2 :P R is the "B" mod, funny how that worked out... Any suggestions?

Sorry Couldn't Recist :D

Well I could imagine people calling it for PR: Arma, and just PR when it comes to the BF2 engine. However, the Vietnam project is still in the early stages so perhaps you wanna exclude that for a while

I vote for BPR, APR and VPR, quick three letter names that follow usual file suffix letter counts.

Its ALL PR.

Hence even poor BF2 :P R or PR:BF2 or BPFR2 (battle project field reality 2?) needs to get the 3 letter abbreviation, so... PRB

and Vietnam, since its a parasite of the BF2 engine, would be PRBV
or shorter... V. For Vientetta

This. PR:BF2 has been just PR and will always be. New mods need to figure out their own abbreviations and PRA and PRV sound alright.

Well, do you guys actually talk to people by saying "Hey man, wanna play PR?"

Actually no RL buddy of mine play PR (most can't speak very good English, and I don't like playing on Portuguese speaking servers), I just type to my friends, hey, wanna play PR:BF2?)

Yeah same, although mine sometimes have to be reminded of what it is and most don't even try and play it.

I prefer just calling it 'PR' generally, as I dislike the name 'Project Reality.' It gives the false impression the mod is all about total realism or has 'realistic' graphics and physics. The name only really makes sense in the context of Vanilla BF2.

I doubt PR would get half the criticism it does if it was called something else, at least I wouldn't have to tediously explain what the mod is actually about so much.

Understandably it's very difficult and disruptive to rename at this stage, if you could even decide on 'the best name'.

I never say Project Reality because I wouldn't like people thinking that I find PR that ralistic...

I mean, you get shot and start screaming on timed intervals of time until a medic comes with a grey box and rubs your blood out so you can keep going on your way... and if you trip they stick a pen into you and rub you with the bag and up you are and ready to go!

We don't have PRA1 so the numbering would be redundant.

Reality which is BF2
