Camouflage net

Hey,
how about a Camouflage net.
The idea came while I was driving in the woods with my friends at Fools Road to build a fob.
We thought, how can we hide this jeep now?
Then I threw a grappling hook over the jeep and said:
Imagine this grappling hook is huge Camouflage net.
Instead of throwing a Hook, you throw a Net. I think the developers can replace the Hook and his line with a camouflage net.
I made some pictures with Photoshop how the Camouflage net could look like ingame.
1.

2.

3.

4.

5. the right style (desert)

*Edit*
5. woodland
This would be a great feature to Hide Jeeps or vehicles in the woods.
Regards,
cepo

2 things about this
1. It would encourage players to leave vechicles in the middle of nowhere instead of a good place like an FOB,Capping zone, near a cache (but not to close to give it away)
2. Takes up a slot in the weapon choice

is there a limited number of slots in the weapon choice?
You dont havt to use the net only for your vehicles. you could also use it to hide yourself in the woods by throwing the net upon a three and hide behind if there are enemy tanks or something

nicely made suggestion, however I would agre with myles' points. If you wish to abandon a vehicle, always do so in a safe place where the rest of the team can recover it if necessary, e.g. next to a FOB.

yeah i agree with you rudd. but sometimes you dont have the possibilities to drive back the supplytruck or a jeep into the mainbase.
*EDIT*
also you could use it to hide crates etc..

I see some ugly problems with dynamic objects lurking around the corner here, but an interesting idea really

Yes but putting the net in will encorge more people just to leave vechicls lying around the places in bushes

Yes myles, but if you and your squad are moving by foot and you hear a tank driving to you, you don't have a chance to survive it without a HAT.
For this situation you throw the net and hide behind it. I mean you can't hide 100% behind it, thats for sure, but it is harder for the tank to see you.
There are PROS and CONS.

i actually like it, if you go in for a sneak attack, you could have the net come up, just make it a requestable kit, one per squad or something, idk..
i really do think this would help overall,, imagian being a sniper, throwing that over part of a tree, and you have perfect if you use it right
their are so many possible uses, and if you could pick it back up with g, think of all the good this could do?.....
but also, what if you just drove the car out from under the net?

problem is cepo that I don't think it'll work well enough for that

you'd probably need a client texture on every map to make it fit that maps particular lighting and texture colours

yeah you should pick it up again with g like the hook.
you can think about how to fix these problems if they accept my idea
Rudd, I am no developer but I think you can only use 2 different styles for all maps.
one wood style and one desert.
Can you implement it that you only can use a desert net on a desert map or the other way around ?

yes and no, desert and woodland are the 2 main texture types, however what ya can do is not create a woodland texture for the net in the main PR files, instead having an objects_client.zip in each map with the woodland suffix, this will mean that it'll load this texture not the desert texture. The allows customisation, this is mostly used to make terrain covers less conspicuous.

yeah okay. it was just an idea.
If you ever try to develop it, I would be very happy to throw a net on a server

would be great, could be some tweaks to the idea that i cant think of atm though.
would also be nice if the net currently floating above the FOB be extended and covers the dirt mound. the dirt mound stands out too much
Leaving vehicles behind isnt the problem, a lot of times squads are forced to dismount. most smart squads go back from them, but since they are still completely exposed they tend to get destroyed. problem is even hiding it in the forest doesnt work because the textures dont fit in. hence why we need this camo net. it will also pretect you from being spotted by aircraft if used properly

Very interesting idea. I don't see how adding it would "encouage" people to abandon vehicles, other than the ability to hide them
If it IS added, perhaps make 2 different types? One for vehicles/crates (Combat Engenieer?) and one for people (AP Rifleman?)
EDIT: Maybe not Combat Engineer. It's already crazy enough as it is when the insurgents get their hands on it

@bringerof
But then you can only cover one side of the dirt mound.
@imchicken
But if the make 2 types they need 4 nets, because of desert and wood style.
They should let the community vote if they can implement it

Don't forget.... the grapple hook glitch being, if you throw it on a vehicle and the vehicle drives away the grapple floats. My point is, if this was to work like a grapple, you could throw it, die, then someone could steal or take the vehicle and the net would be floating. ALSO grapple hooks disappear after a while, the net would have to do the same thing. Personally an interesting Idea but probably won't be implemented

So, what you're saying is, we could unintendedly build little forts? lol
I like this idea, but its going to be hard to implement

Ghillie suits dont draw at distance = pointless.
