Ironsight Marksman Rifles

I have to say they are a very interesting twist for medium range combat, but why does there have to be a separate class for them? It's not like the scopes are welded to the rifles. I believe that every marksman kit should have the ability to remove the scope from the rifle and then put it back on, depending on the situation. It would obviously take a few moments to do so. But it is simply that in RL, you can take the scope off of a dragunov and use the irons for shorter range engagements. Later, you can reattach the scope to take out targets at longer range. It makes since right? I mean, this is project REALITY.

Not enough weapon slots.

Why dont we have lean, backpacks, clip-by-clip ammo etc.

Because its hard to do with this engine, go play ArmA2 and you shall be satisfied with the reality.

Er, no, that's not how scopes work in real life. You must properly align the sight and the point of impact whenever a new scope is fitted, a quick mount only makes installation and removal quicker and toolless

I'm pretty sure a scope on a dragunov doesn't cover the iron sights IRL anyway and dual sights are being worked on:
YouTube - Mosquill's Channel
If that is implemented you won't have to worry about removing a scope on certain marksman rifles.

anyway what teek said is true, scopes are not pop on pop off kind of things like a lot of videogames say they are.

With weaver sights (AK74, AK74m, SVD) its possible, but in the field its not going to be standard practice to remove it.

Darknecron, the reason you've not been able to post this in the suggestion section is due to you not having enough posts. This is in the hope that by the time you've reached the required number of posts, you've become more familiar with what goes on around here and realised what has been suggested or not.

This has been suggested and discussed before, try searching.

Source that soldiers remove optics in combat situations ?

Here is a quote from a DEV that is currently serving in the US military:
[R-DEV]Ninja2dan wrote: And yes, soldiers are taught not to remove anything from their weapon once in combat unless that component is broken. Quick-change optic mounts are designed to allow the soldier to modify his weapon system depending on the mission at hand BEFORE the mission, not during. The only time I would ever suggest messing with optics on a weapon is if you need to add or remove a night optic. And with many of the newer NODS in use now, they can be attached and removed without altering the primary optic.
also:
[R-CON]ReadMenace wrote:They sure can and do. Any folding BUIS is capable of fitting beneath the rear housing of an ACOG.

As for the suggestion -- even with a LaRue mount, the only time you should be removing your optic in a combat zone is when it's broken.

Its not realistic to remove your scope, you will lose the accuracy (zero) when you put it back on. So in future, when making a suggestion based on "reality" have a source to show it is indeed realistic, which in this case it is not.

Locked as this is a re-suggestion and a suggestion outside of the correct forum section. As Smeg stated there is a reason for the post count rule for suggestions, and it is to prevent circumstances such as this :)
