hi,

finally in aprox a month (i hope 0.92 will be out by then) im gonna upgrade from my useless e2160 with 8600gt to something you actually can call a gaming computer. i dont know the specs by now but since im gonna spend 1200 euros on the computer im pretty sure i will be able to run pr with all on high then (i hope 0.92 will be out by then). ive had/heard about problems with ctd's and texture issues when you got all settings on high. i dont know if theyre solved with 0.92 (which will hopefully be out by then) but i wanna check if there are any things i should know about.
im really looking forward to my new computer and 0.92 (would be awesome if it would be out by then).

regards, skull

ps: couldnt stand it, just hope to get some leaked infos :)

I have....a question...
Is there one setting that will cause CTD if on "High" or do all settings need to be set to "High" in order to make CTD problems happen,
E.G all on high except Textures on medium, will avoid crashes?

Textures on High causes CTD's. This makes no difference to me, at all...

I don't get CTDs with textures on high... I've heard it has something to do with your amount of ram? or vram? or the alignment of mars and jupiter when you installed PR?

In any case, for 1200 euros, you should be able to grab a 940/1090T + AM3 board, 6gb+ of ram, new graphics card (470 / 5870) and the other extras such as new PSU (~600W 85+ gold), case (need a full tower for the new grahpics cards) and some custom cooling to silence your rig and allow you to overclock. Then you can consider upgrading your screen/keyboard/mouse/joystick/speakers/headset if you please.

Yeah, I've been waiting for a response on why people are getting CTD's on high textures so I can remedy my own problem. Bought a $150 Gfx card hoping that would solve my problems.

A 8600GT may be shooting yourself in the foot, reason being, thats already pretty weak for the games coming out these days, including the resource sucking application we call PR, IMO, you'll only be barely making it out using a 9-Series GeForce, or ATI equivalent, and I'm talking bout the higher 9's, like the 9600, 9800s.

yea its never too late to just upgrade .... you dont need to wait for the next version to upgrade... i always ran my game on High/medium settings... after i upgraded to a better video card 512mb memory ddr5 i am full out high settings :D ...... except for some issues with anti aliasing and somthing else isnt realy worth using full 100% high settings... im on like ..90% lol but for real make sure your processor will even beable to handle a new card or w.e you want to upgrade too :P
