Hi there! I am wanting to start up a Project Reality Server, I don't have the money to buy one from a server company but I do have a server computer at home which is currently not in use. I have searched all day and I can't find ANYTHING  If there is someone out there in the PR Community that is kind enough to help me I will be more then happy to grant you Admin powers to the server you helped me make.

You need to request a PR server licence. But:

Oh darn! This is what the server would be like if it could be approved:

1) No annoying kids
2) Admins that don't kick people for no reason
3) Admins that don't use there powers for evil
4) Hard Core gamers
5) Mature people
6) Realistic players
7) Pilots that know what there doing and know how to fly
8 ) No Team Killers
9) No admins all on one side and the noobs on the other
10) Helpful admins
11) Fun people to be around
12) Fun server to be in/Realistic server to be in
13) Stuff that I'm still thinking of....

Anyone else want to see some improvements/rules in this realistic server?

€: im sry, shame on me :(

€2: what definitly is missing is a place, for example a thread here or a whole forum, where people can
- have a ruleset they can refer to
- have votes about maplists etc.
- discuss prior
....

Viking, there are many many empty servers out there, and it can be horrible thankless task running one, my advice would be to join an existing group with the same aims as you and that has a functional server, and get in with them.

If you're a good guy and present on the server and forum it'd just be time before you could become an admin and help them out assuming their goal is the same as yours.

There are a few that spring to mind....

there may be plenty of servers empty out there, but alot of the empty ones, are unstable and have horrible pings in the US. I went out and bought a server this week, to use as a skirmish server, because so many people only play the larger maps these days. you figure they'd be letting more people host it because they'd want their mod to reach more people.

So instead of PR on our Server we're running AIX with some of the other realism mods. Until they come to their senses and start offering licenses to more american servers instead of trying to make us all buy a UK server.

also many of the servers that are currently up either team stack or the clan running them have a ghost on the other team, greatly stacking the odds against the opposing team. As well as a few clans who blatantly allow their members to cheat on their server.

So I guess we either have to deal with ungodly pings or cheats to play PR right now. The few servers that don't do this stuff are constantly full so clans with 10 or more people aren't allowed to play with each other in a decent environment.

I would say dont focus on running a server and if you are your gona need more admins for funding and so admins are on everyday. most likely you will need donations from players aswell to keep it going so your going to need a good server to show that players that its worth paying to keep up the server. and to keep iy up you will probaly need $150 a month from donations
