Hi, I did search for this, but no joy.
Description:
After Alt+Tabbing out to the desktop sometimes all GUI elements in game disappear until restarting the game. Seems to be more common if alt+tabbing while loading a map.
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Start loading a map (or try it in game, both work)
2) Alt + Tab to desktop and back
3) If the bug has occurred the entire loading screen should be a browny-grey colour
4) When you get into the game all menus, the map, chat text and HUD will be totally gone
Tested On:
-Muttrah, in game.
-Operation Archer, while loading.
-Lashkar Valley, while loading.
-Several other times I don't recall the maps.
Video Settings:
Everything on medium
Draw distance 100%
Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 75Hz

Interesting, can't say I've heard of this issue before. I know the 1.5 patch broke alt-tabbing but that DLL fix corrects it... and that's different to what you describe. I thought it might be a difference in refresh rates (like your desktop set to 60hz while PR is at 75hz or the other way around etc) but that doesn't really make any sense with the symptoms that you describe. Are you able to get screenshots of the issue, I'm quite intrigued

So, why do you Alt-Tab while loading a map ? I mean serious, waht's the point of that, it wont make your map load faster.

To get into mumble while I wait usually.

I'll try to get a screen cap next time it happens, it is literally just the game with no 2D graphics at all (still works on main menu though).

Not a bug, therefore moved to PR:BF2 Technical Support.

.
Can't you do that before you start the game or wait when you already joined the game. When it's loading you shouldn't do anything.
And btw; to the uber-mod Jigsaw ( or something like that ) <= this is a compliment

; my post could be useful, who knows he wanted to do that so his map would load faster ( wich is apparently not ) so please, stop harrasing me with these absurdly private messages and 'warnings', what I posted was NOT spam.

Alt-tabbing while loading can corrupt your game, just don't do it.

It still does it while playing the game sometimes though.

I alt tab to make sure I'm in the right mumble channel, and usually to connect to the correct server channel. Must be cool knowing which server/team you're going to be on before you update your server list, but I'd assume majority of us don't. I can think of a hundred reason to alt-tab out mid game as well (YIM/MSN, AV started updating, playlist is over), and I often do resulting in the scoreboard being stuck up, and sometimes I'll even lose my VOIP. Alt-tab on loading however, rarely results in graphical issues, instead I'll end up with pb heart-beat dc.
For the most part alt-tab works as intended, if I find my gui is stuck I'll try to press the key as I alt-tab again (alt-tab-m if for example my map is stuck) . Normally it will clear the issue, but there have been times I am forced to restart the game.

well pushing alt, toggles your 3D HUD iirc. so just try pushing your alt key after you've lost your GUI. hopefully it will work for you.

Have you installed that "alt-tab" hotfix that was included in PR0.9 or PR0.91 ( don't remember wich one ). But I'm sure that they have it in PR0.91.
Have a look installing it, maybe it'll help you.
