I'm looking to buy a new computer, preferably a gaming laptop. While searching I came across the Alienware M15x Alienware M15x Laptop Product Details | Dell. It seems to have really good reviews (though most people on the PR forums seem to be anti-alienware.) Putting price aside, would this be a smart choice?

M15x system (this is the basic setup. Upgrades can be added):
-Intel Core i3-350M 2.26GHz
-512MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M
-RAM 3GB (i think)

All I'd really like to do is play PR on all full video settings smoothly. The computer I have now is mostly just a ton of old parts collected over the years that were thrown together, and nothing on it works quite right.

for half the price you could get...
Buy.com - ASUS G51VX-RX05 Notebook, Intel Core 2 P7350 (2.0GHz), 4GB, 320GB, DVDRW, Webcam, 15.6" HD 1366x768 LED LCD, Windows Vista Premium 64bit â$“ Factory Refurbished

wat do you think of that? i saw that a few days ago and am tempted to get one...but the best decision would be to get a gaming desktop >.<. it is refurbished..and cpu isnt as good, but it does have a 260m.

Alienware, a bunch of (almost) new parts that you could get for cheap... but put together and over priced by hundreds of dollars.

You are better off building your own desktop.

I would go with FuzzySquirrel's recommendation, it is infinitely better in the GPU (gaming) department than the alienware.

This.

Alienwares are good for Dells warranty service, but the prices are nearly always £lol unfortunately (Second hand refurbs tend to be reasonable)

I'm waiting for my Dell since months. I'd recommend not buying from them, they seem to have trouble delivering.

What about this one: Qosmio X505-Q885 Laptop It seems like the biggest problem with high performance laptops is overheating. Does anyone know if this one has problems?

Bear in mind that Alienware are basically Dell. Go for Asus (Not Acer) for a better build quality I would say.

As with all gaming laptops, really think whether you HAVE to have a laptop for gaming, or whether its a "want". If its the latter, spend the money more wisely.
