im following Rhinos tutorial for setting up BF2 editor and im having issues. he notes that in .9 there is not just Objects_Client and Objects_Server .zip files but 23 zip files that all need to be extracted. ive have run into 2 problems:
1. i have 34 .zip files, not 23.
2. i get all kinds of errors from the WinRAR Diagnostic messages. the messages read:
(desktop to PR_edit filepath)\common_client.zip: Cannot create folder common
Access is denied
(same filepath)\common_client.zip: Cannot create folder common\ammocache
The system cannot find the path specified
and so on and so forth with the rest of the files. im running Windows Vista 32 and my copy of WinRAR was listed as wrar380.

hey Wh33lman
you got 34 zips because of the 0.917 patch, but you could have got that by just looking at the zip names ("objecttype"_client/server_patch1)
for that error, try and unzip the 0.9 files first, and than the 0.917 patched files and let them overwrite the existing stuff, if you cant even extract the 0.9 zips, than there is something wrong with the files or the programm you use or the way you use it
cheers

thanks for the info. i thought they were patch files, and i spotted the "patch1" in the names after i posted. i tested the same extraction process on a copy of vBF2 files, and i ran into the same problem. i updated to WinRAR393 but it didnt help. i cant rule out human error, but really, how hard is it to right click and select "extract here" from a drop down menu?

Im having the same problem when I try to extract etc or edit files in BF2/PR I get winrar messages like access denied file cannot be found or something and in windows explorer "file can't be found or no read permission" and im honestly at a loss like you are.

ive got it. create a new folder manually with the same name (common_client or whatever your unzipping) useing the create folder in the organize menu. then right click on the zipped folder and select extract all(not extract files or extract here useing winrar). it will extract the files to the new folder you just made and your good to go. i assume you can then delete the zipped folder to save space on your hard drive.
note: pay attention while your doing this. its a long process, and if your mind wanders, you may end up deleteing a file before you extract it or extract it twice into the same folder.
