I was on a TOW and looking around in several directions for incoming targets and I get kicked for being idle.

I was not idle I was playing the game.

When you are manning an AA/TOW/HMG...what so ever the game counts you as idle an kicks you after 20 minutes (I think), not an issue at all, just hardcoded stuff IIRC
Thats why you have to jump out after a few minutes, or you ll get kicked-->tipp NEVER go make yourself coffee/tea while manning an defensive asset, or you´ll have the PR server-list awaiting you

i think this is more a server thing

To avoid going idle, press one of the WASD keys.

You can sit there and move around the mouse as much as you want, but you will be kicked for not physically moving your character.

Even when you are on it, press the button every now and then.

Not a bug, or at least not one that can be fixed.

I think the script checking if you're idle or not, only checks your position, not your rotation. The position remains the same, but your rotation is different every second (so to say).
