Why the M249 Para for US?

Why is the Gen. 1 M249 being used (Or its the paratrooper version - theres paratroopers in Afganistan/Iraq/Where else we are fighting?!), I'm just confused and to my knowledge we aren't using this kinda of M249 in todays war(s) - from what I know. Just kinda wondering why this is ingame - It must have been put in the game for a reason, there are emplacements ingame that utilize the most recent version with the full stock of the M249 SAW. Just for curiousity's sake I found it reasonable to ask this question.

** Did not find any thread addressing this when I used the search button

Thread Title too vague. It previously read "Why...? Explanation needed"

^Thank you for fixing that

Because it's the only finished M249 model we have. If I recall correctly, there is a M249 PIP in the making.

the emplacement you see is a vbf2 weapon and is horrible outdated and far far below PR standards, a new patch will be correcting this though

Thanks for clarifying. I just stopped and thought about it for a second today, and noticed it didn't make sense. This clears it up.
