hi guys i'm wondering would this be a realistic price range for building a new computer. I did some research at first i'd think it'd only cost a couple of hundered dollers eg. $600 but i found to get something worth while i should spend some more on however my parents arn't prepared to pay that much to just get parts,i'd really like to be able to run PR full high everything without major lag/load times, i did some equations and i'm wondering if you guys could correct me if they are wrong:

Needed objects:
casing = 60 - 100
CD/DVD thingys = 20 - 35
CPU = 100 - 200
Fan (each) = 25 -40 (x3 = 100 ish)
hardrive (terra byte) = 70 - 80
RAM (4GB and up) = 100 -300
motherboards = 100 - 150
power supply = 90 -120
sounds card = 10 - 30 (high end = 60)
wires = 30 - 60
graphics cards = 100 - 200

High end total = 1351
Mid range = 954
Low end Total = 715

Uneeded objects:
speakers = 20 - 90
moniter = 100 - 200
mouse = 40 - 60

high end Total = 350
mid range = 245
low end Total = 160

High end total (all) = 1605 + 80 (P&P) = 1785

Low end total (all) = 1065 + 80 (P&P) = 1145

P&P = 80

these are all in dollers so if you think some need to be rasied or lowered please say, also i'd like to ask how much do you think i should spend to run PR all on high everything maxed out, also i would like this to last me a while, say 5 -6 years with only RAM and possibly graphics card updates.Would it be cheaper just to buy it?

Also i do live in england so if you guys could point me to a english site where i can get some of these cheap/for a good deal.

Regarding British PC hardware purchases... unfortunately I have no idea... Hopefully someone can point you in a good direction (preferably an indexing site so you can see where the best places to buy each component are)

As for the parts, have a read of this thread here which I posted in quite extensively which would run PR very well...

yeha i used newegg as well and mines adding upto about 1700 someithnf or other but thats with top end stuff which i don't want to buy full everything on top end

btw whats a CPU HSF? and a PSU probs stupid quesitonb u i canna work it and i'm guesisng GPU is graphics card?

also i'm really trying to keep the price low while still getting good performance of PR and games like crysis, i'm not aiming for ArmA2 all on high but i am aiming for something which will be abelt o play msot games these days on high-medium settings and in 3-4 years time still be able to play the newer game on medium - high settings.

You really don't need 3 fans unless you are going to overclock your CPU / GPU.

Find a case that has 2 fans in it..... Do you know if all of the parts are compatible?

Killonsight, this is a good website however I dont know how it stands vs building your own PC from scratch. Choose the Build a Desktop from the left panel, choose your budget and then choose your Specs. YOu can build a good PC for around £750 on that website. Maybe even less.

Well considering the other thread I linked had most of the recommendations I would make here, I'll let you decide which are best for you.

The one and only thing I will say is don't run your OS off a 5400rpm green power drive

my only problem i have atm is i might wnat more RAM but i'm not sure if the CPU could support it or be able to run it efficently

The CPU isn't the determinant of RAM compatibility, it is the motherboard that handles the RAM on a hardware level, and your OS handles it on a software level. So as long as your motherboard is DDR3 compatible (it is) and your OS is 64bit (I hope so), then you'll have no issue with running 8GB+++ (up to 128GB afaik on win 64 pro editions)

As I said in my PM, drop the sound card and try the integrated sound, you don't need those extra fans, the HAF comes with all you need (unless you're planning on replacing the ones that come with the HAF), consider paying a bit more for the HAF932, as a few improvements were made. You could get away with a VX550 PSU easily, there's no need for a 800W behemoth. Finally, can I suggest a CNPS10X as a CPU cooler for cool & quiet operation with a budget, and headroom for overclocking.

okay right i've actualy found 850W PSU but i'm not sure if i should get it over the one you suggested as the cheaper it is the more likly i'll get it:

Corsair TX Series 650W ATX2.2 SLI/Crossfire Compliant Power Supply - Aria Technology

Quality. Since your only using a 5770 even if you did crossfire you'd have plenty of juice. Also. don't just look at watts when looking for a PSU.

yeah but price comparrison mate, thats £70 where as the one i suggest is 34 and the other only £61

my budget has actualy fallen since i needed to take some out for a holiday comming up. trying to keep it below £650

also i just spotted this:

same price just different wattage and i think some connections are slightly different

my total is 645.39 plus P&P so i can only afford £5 mow realisticly, hopefully i won't need a Fan because of my fan loaded case

If you don't care for your electricity costs go with the cheaper PSU. Cut the sound card all new onboard soundchips produce decent sound and if you don't have a high-end sound system you won't here the difference and use the saved money for a decent monitor. It is kind of wierd that most people would spend a lot of money on graphics cards, but are buying the cheapest monitor. So your computer produces a nice looking picture, but you can't see it, because your display can't process it. So no sound card, but a better monitor.
