Help me! D; I wanna play! I miss it!

About 2 months ago, I gave up on my quest to get PR installed and working on my BRAND new desktop. Please review this thread:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f360-g ... ime-_.html
That link follows the THREE WEEK persuing of the issue at hand... And yet it still remains. For those of you who are to lazy to click, loading a game is reidiculously slow... It stays on a single percentage for about 2 minutes before going to the next percent. It never fully loads. And it's just unbearable. Please help me!

You have really great suggestions in your other thread. Uhhh, try installing again or even downloading it again.
Honestly I had to put up with crazy long load times, just go out for a smoke, or grab a beer and wait. Waiting never hurt anyone. And if it doesn't load try playing on a LAN coop server, still lots of fun in that.

Let me give you a little aspect of how long it takes... Longest load I've ever sat through... 10 minutes... Thats beer and smoke time for some. I left it to load for 4 days.... Count em' 4. And it only reached 20%... Theres your aspect... Waiting DOES hurt people when it would take more than 5 days to load a game. I know how long some BF2 games take... I'm a VERY patient person. I do have my limits on desperation though. I have no friends that CAN play this game. The singleplayer doesn't work either. It has the same issue... Now, with a little more knowledge on my issue, want to take a crack at that again? I've reinstalled countless times... COUNTLESS......... If you didn't catch that, put EMPHASIS, on COUNTLESS...
Crazy long loading times such as 10 - 20 minutes... Thats nothin' compared to my issue...

Ok now that I actually have a solution and then you freak at, I'll keep it in my head, have a good time trying to figure out how to play

Learn to be more respectful.

I am being respectful to the best of my abilities. If you read the original thread, you would see that multiple times I apologize for sounding crude. And I asked if you wouldn't mind going over the entire thread first. Because later on, you see that uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work for me on multiple cases.

I'm assuming you mean the compatibility tab... Well I went there and it was already running on Windows XP(Service Pack 3). So I switched it to SP2. Nothing. I feel like thats not what I was supposed to do though. Mind explaining?

Just been scanning through the old thread and this one, sorry to see you haven't sorted your BF2/Pr out yet.
- couple more questions. A quick check on the ATI website might help for the first one.
1. What version of Catalyst do you have on your machine (ATI Radeon Driver Package/config).
2. If you haven't got this ATI icon on your machine, can you post a screenshot of your expanded system tray (the icons on the main windows bar near to the clock)
3. Can you go to your "Computer Management" please and let us know if anything is logged when you fire up or shut down PR/BF2 in the Application Log.
- Right click on "My computer" on the desktop and select Manage
- Expand the little triangle left of "event Viewer", and again on "Windows Logs" then on "Application".
Check the timestamp of the events and look for anything in "Red" that is the same time as your error.
- If one of the USA/Canada Support techs can send him an email address and talk him through saving his event logs i'm sure we'll sort this one out. Might not be a bad idea to do some "Remote Support" too in his timezone.
- If one of the techs can follow up Don's replies to this post, that would be great as i'm off to Spain for a week.

I hope I can answer correctly:
1. ATI Radeon 5750 HD ( I don't think this is what you're talking about but this is all I can think of when you say config.)
2.

Hope this is what you were talking about...
3. No events occured whatsoever. Nothing was red nor did any appear.
- I have TeamView is you guys at BSS use it.
- Enjoy your Spain visit. :3

It's been a week and I've yet to get a response or be contacted. Has anyone been tracking this post?

When i changed from Intel to AMD i had huge loading time at Windows 7 boot which i didn't have before. I had a Gigabyte 790X MB. I couldn't find the problem. Then i installed the chipset driver like other drivers during fresh W7 install and magically solved the issue.
Maybe, maybe this will help. Try installing AMD chipset driver from your MB's official site.

Also i read the previous topic but i don't know if you tried it. It seems every time "configuring shaders..." message pops up (means that graphic settings has been changed and game is loading for the first time with them) you can play without problem. So try to delete BF2 cache folder under My Documents/Battlefield 2 folder everytime you start the game and play with default settings. See if that works.

1. I don't know how to install AMD drivers and I'd rather not. Frankly, because my computer has run this game before, theres nothing that could possibly be wrong with my drivers. I've downloaded new drivers from my graphics manufatherer before and it completley stalled my computer. No option was given to me to create back up. Aside from that, I wouldn't want to go through the process of backing up. Easy or not. I know I sound nit picky but I have my own story why I don't want to do anything I'm no comofortable with to this computer.
2. Setting everything to default and emptying my cache didn't do anything. And if it did work, I wouldn't be able to play. I got this computer for the major reason of wanting to play this game on high settings because it was fun. I have horrible eye sight(Like.... bad) so... 800x600 ain't gonna cut it.
Thank you, however, for the reply as it's reassuring to know that people are willing to give their assistance.

I meant the motherboard chipset drivers not the GFX drivers. It's up to you of course but worth a try imo. I don't think any harm would come out of it.
Also, have you ever tried to wait until loading ends and play the game when this problem occurs or you just quit? If you did, was the game playable or laggy, stuttering? If you never did, maybe it could give others new ideas about your problem so you should try and tell us the result.
Other than these i can't think of anything at the moment.

You said you bought your computer from a store and was assembled by a professional team. So why don't you report that issue to technical support? They should be offering a free service for new computers. After all you don't have to bear like this for this is a brand new and professionally made computer.
They can test it with different HDD, ram or GFX to find out if it's related to any hardware incompability or fault. Or try installing a fresh OS to elimiate software cause, all in their responsibility.

Did you download them from the AMD website. I also know there was some issues with few releases of CCC (your vid card drivers) but the latest ones should be fine.

@Kilgore.dfa: "They should be offering a free service for new computers. After all you don't have to bear like this for this is a brand new and professionally made computer." Unfortunately, no. They don't offer a free service as something like this wouyldn't fall under my warranty. I can't afford tests nor installing a new OS... This is why, if you notice in previous posts of mine, that I'm so cautious about trying new stuff because I can't afford a fix up if anythign bad happened to this computer due to such a complication not being under the warranty. We're all in a slump right now here at home... No one has a job. So this computer is very treasured to me.
@Kilgore.dfa: As I've stated in previous posts.... I've waited a max of 4 days before for the game as I went on vacation and even after 4 days, it only loaded to 40%. I KNOW how long some PR maps can load due to running off the BF2 client because, well.... It's the BF2 Client... Lul. So.... yeah. I wait an abnormally long time...
@0331SgtSpyUSMC: As I said before, I'm very very cautious about doing this, but also, it is very refreshing knowing someone was willing to send me a private message. I have gone ahead and done what you suggested as you gave me more direction than others. I installed the top one(Around 73MB's), let it install, and restart. However, as I suspected, no dice :/. I honestly don't believe it could be a hardware problem seeing as I've played the game multiple times in the past.

FOUR days? OMG. This is really strange.
I hope you find a solution soon. It's a good thing that doesn't happen in other applications as it nearly rules out a more serious problem but still everything is possible.
I'll come back again if i can find anything new.

+1 The actual solution isn't going to be "change this checkbox to off"... unfortunately you're going to have to get your hands dirty with OS reinstalls, drivers and heaven forbid, registry tweaks (just kidding on the last one :mrgreen

. On the plus side though, once you've been through the ordeal once, you become accustomed to it and it's no longer a daunting task in the future.
Best of luck to you though, as I foresee that a format+win reinstall is going to be on your list of "
can't do/won't do", in which case, we can't help ya.
