Analog Stick + Mouse Combo

So we all know the Console versus Computer arguements. And largely enough I think we can all agree that the mouse is a better input device than an Analog stick for looking around.
Now, I got to thinking though that four little buttons do a poor job of controlling movements. So then I thought of the JoyStick. Perhaps utilize that with a mouse for maximum control of movements. And surprisingly it worked pretty well. However, the Joystick isn't meant to be pushed foreward and held in that position all the time. For me it was tiring pretty quickly. Also it limited my button useage to just six.
So the question I have is:
Does anyone know of a Analog stick like attachment to a computer with a large amount of bindable buttons? Or some way to make this frankestien combination work?
I can see it being REALLY useful to control how fast you move in any direction while also having greater control over what direction you can move too.
