Inevitably, Someone's Mad That You Can Be The Taliban In Medal of Honor

Uhh yeah okay i see the point. Not sure what to think about it though.
World War II games are fine because "that's far removed, that's not based on real people." Well, neither is Medal of Honor, to be honest.
But the world war 2 Tactical shooter game: Brothers in arms is however.
all soldiers in that game is based on real soldiers and the events as well. in Bia multiplayer one team plays as the germans (not real people in the multiplayer though)

she should open her eyes and either freak out some more cos she's not caught all of it, or relax a bit.

what do you guys think about it?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

My cousin was in Afghanistan with the Norwegian Contigent. I dont feel bad playing as the Taliban?

Isnt like 1/3 of the players in PR, related to the Army in their respective countries? Not to speak of the devs?

i think it'll be interesting for people to see the war from the talibans pointy of veiw, as long as they do it realisticly and not like " We're so evil mwahahahahahahahahahahahaha"

There's always a handful of people blaming things on video games. It's shedding light onto the issue. I don't see in any way how it's "disrespectful"

Right...... Here we go again...

Someone please enlighten this woman on the video game world.

Why does this happen everytime a new game comes out? We'll be lucky if BF3 makes it out the door before it gets caught in controversy.

But the human race has never had violent people before. It must be all these computer games that are the main recruitment source of the Taliban!

I am already wondering how german media will react when they see the german faction in PR - especially on a insurgency map.
I forsee a TV report with a scene where a guy plays PR in a very dark room and runs around in Insurgency shooting civilians :D

similar to this: YouTube - Morden und Foltern als Freizeitspaß - Killerspiele im I-net

But we'll see :)

If Russia invaded America I would be the fist to enlist. But in PR I always play as the Russians.
When i get stuck on the insurgent team i play as a Taliban soldier fighting off the infidels. But that doesn't mean i believe in there cause, I just like role playing. Although i prefer playing as the Americans i will fight as hard as i can on Taliban, and pray George Washington will have mercy on my sole.

Its allways some woman with pms and nothing better to do thats never played a game in there life.
How did she find out that MOH had playable talibans?looked it up? exactly.Hell I didnt even know lol.

The only game in my life I found a tad OTT was the one where you shoot JFK but I wouldnt try to stop others that may enjoy it play it.

@trooper909: Well the woman in the interviews had her son killed in Iraq so it is understandable why she may take offense to it.

I admit I found that a bit macabre also, however the aim (if you will pardon the pun)
if IRC was to try and prove/disprove the single shooter/2 shooter single bullet/2 bullet
theory.

A great one for all the conspiricy theorists out there!!

Regarding the OP, we have had a similar conversation within our Clan
regarding player names and clan names. And whether or not we can allow certain names
and not others, because of the associations with war criminals/war crimes and terrorism.

We still have not come up with a united view yet, (And probably never will). But what
it has highlighted is that there is more then one side (right or wrong depending on your point of view)
to every story. Someone's Victorious moment is always someone elses cause for sadness or grief.

Each case can only measured in it's own right and generalisations need to be avoided
where possible, when we consider the ramifications of our actions within what is
essentially a computer game where (to quote Babyloncome) my pixels shoot your pixels.

:)

I was talking in general not only about her.

Why would you search for things you know would offend you? If only to find somthing to complain about and get your face on the news?

Dead son or not she is still a ignorant peeerson who knows nothing about games and should never be able to comment on them.

Her son joined a war there was allways a slight chance he would die just like if I got burned to death it wouldnt be such a shock given my job.Does that mean my wife should try to get backdraft banned? no it dosnt.

Come on people, Games don't sell without controversy now a days. I don't think we have forgotten the Mass Effect sex scenes and Modern warfare 2 Airport shoot-out.

This wont do EA anything. or if it will, they can always turn em into Carebears.

This lady would have a ridiculous time arguing about PR given that it's staffed by serving members and veterans.
