Unlike today, from what i an tell the Army and USMC used pretty much the exact same stuff.
The only difference i can really notice is that the USMC used the m14 longer than the Army.
Does any one have any differences between the two that you would be able to tell about in game.

well i think it would be cool to have them for the m14 in some maps.
Uniform variation
Im not expecting the differences like night and day, especially in 0.1
But anyways, back on topic, historically were there any major differences?

jesus h christ, are you serious?
if you read up about the Marine Corps in Vietnam, there were many differences between them and the Army. organizational structures, general attitude toward counterinsurgency, not to mention being in charge of pretty much the whole of I Corps region.
the Army and Marine Corps were the two big players in Vietnam. Not having the Marines would be retarded. You can't have a Hue, Starlite or any other I Corps map playing as Army. I mean shit, they were the first combat troops to Vietnam anyhow.
'aesthetically' yes, there may not be much difference. flak jackets, noticed the camo on there helmet covers were sometimes different, and yes, the almighty M14 was used a lot more than did the Army, even when the 16 was introduced. But it's the 'thought that counts' in PR. You wouldn't have the British in Fallujah or the Canadians in Basrah.
So please, this is a message to all who post on the PR:V forum. It is exactly the same as normal PR, same rules apply. PLEASE think ahead before you post, search for a previously posted topic (how many more will have the title as 'Radio guy') and use your common sense. Rant over

Main difference would be assets. USMC used their own F-4's, A-4's, and A-6's(not sure if they used the intruder). USMC also used the CH-46 Phrog(!!!) and CH-53 Sea Stallion.

The old breed is right. The marines had the dirty job in I corp one of thier roles was to hold the NVA incursions back as the nva tried to sneak through the DMZ. there were a lot of fierce firefights over those hills and ridges.

I remember reading a memoir of a US Marine in Vietnam. He fought through the Battle of Khe Sahn from beginning to end, and the Marines were there out in the Central Highlands, duking it out with the NVA.
He complained about how the Marines were given relatively shoddy equipment compared to the Army. The main character was issued an M16 with black duct tape wrapped around an near-broken barrel or something.
I don't know where I'm going with this, but I just know that the Marines DID have distinctive characteristics from the Army in Vietnam.

The most visible ones will likely be in shotguns and sniper rifles, as usual. With player models, you might see some differences, as for some reason the Army back then thought it was a good idea to have colored unit and rank insignia patches and black and gold nametapes on their OD fatigues until later in the war.

Historically were there any differences in vehicles?

Yes, there were. They both used the same M48 tank during the war, but the Marines did not use the M113 APC and M551 Sheridan light tank. The Marines used in the APC role the LVTP5 "Amtrack" series, which also had a 105mm self-propelled howitzer variant. Another vehicle unique to the Marines, but that an Army unit borrowed after they'd been scrapped, was the M50 Ontos; 6 x 106mm recoilless rifles on a tracked platform.

Marines did have the M14 slightly longer then the Army.
Other differences, although slight are
Helmet bands: USMC had a black rubber band, the US Army had the OD elastic band
For most marines, from what Ive read/seen it was mandatory for them to wear their flak vests
Thats all I could think of that would visually be different between the 2 in game
