More problems -_____- Random CTD'ing from PR, FH2, and vBf2

For some reason, now whenever I try to play anything BF2 related (vBF2, PR, or FH2) I will either CTD when I click to join a server (uninstalling/reinstalling + updating PB seems to temporarily fix this) or anywhere between 5 minutes to 1 hour of playing I randomly CTD, whether or not I am in a certain vehicle or in a certain spot on the map, it just comes at random each time. I have heard mumblings that this may be caused by having your memory set on dual channel memory, rather than single channel. AFAIK this relates to the way your memory sticks are put into your motherboard (ie slots), and I'm not very good when it comes to the inside of a computer so I'm not going to f#%k with that.

Anyone else sometimes have these problems or even maybe have a permanent fix for these random CTD's?

EDIT: I have also heard that this may be due to overheating your graphics card, but I have had the same settings on for a while with no problems and these just started a week or two ago.

Thanks (again),
Tommy-T-Gun

Is the game legit, ie not a torrent, and CD key with disc's.
My friend had the same issue with that one with a torrent, and a bad CD key/

When looking for answers please follow these simple steps.

#1 : Read the red stickys First.
New PR problems are rare so most answers can be found here.

#2. Use the search feature on PRs web site or Google it!.
Often the quickest way to find what your looking for when you have an error message.

#3. Please remember to include your basic PC info in your post

You have spent some time trying to help yourself without any luck, so your ready to ask for help:

Please include your basic PC info in your post :
Operating system = XP, Vista etc.
systems specks = cpu/speed, ram installed, video card/video ram on card, type of monitor
network setup = cable, 4 port 10/100/1000 d- link gamers lounge/ wired connection.
And a brief history before and after problem started.
Please describe when your CTD or problem hits and
what you have already tried.
The more info you can give the better your chance of getting a quick answer back.
You don't have to write a book,
but your basic PC info is needed to help you.

Good luck

I searched on the website but found no solutions, and I also googled my problem, which was how I found out about the dual/single channel memory.

Operating system = Windows XP
systems specs = Ram installed: 1gig. Video card: nVidia Geforce 6600. Type of monitor: Lextron 19" Plug and play. (sorry I don't know much about how to find the other stuff)

And a brief history before and after problem started.

History: Before this problem started, the only real problems I had with PR/Bf2 were from punkbuster. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I have been having random crashes to desktop either when I click join game to connect to a server, or after I am already in the game in which it will crash at random.

Attempts at fixing the problem: For some reason, it seems when I uninstall/install/then update PB using PBSVC and PBSETUP, I will usually not crash after attempting to join a game. However, I have also noticed that (using speed fan) when I exit a game/CTD my GPU is around 70c, sometimes even in the high 70's.

Thoughts: Now that I have seen my computer's temp. after coming out of a game, I am thinking that the problem may be caused by overheating. The only thing that really opposes this is that I have just started having these problems now, which would lead me to the question "Why now?". I mean, my computer isn't that amazing, I can just pass over the top of the minimum requirements, and I know that my temperature management isn't the best, mainly because I didn't build this PC, it's basically all straight from the factory other than the GFX card (nvidia geforce 6600), that was the only upgrade I made.

Any ideas?

As much every one else will deny this I tell you 100% from near 100% experience that it's your hardware.

I was running the same specs ( AMD 3200+ , 6600LE 256MB, 1 GB of DDR1 ram, 19" 1440x900 samsung )
Your PC is to old to run PR .957. When I was running that Id get CTDs random to the point that i stopped playing it entirely( That was way back .6 actually ) . It need more VRam and more Ram.

It might be because of Over heat or what ever but finding the problem won't give you a remedy to it other then spend your $$$$.

Base line is: If PR is a hobby of yours that you play enough every week, you should at least sink 300$ into it. New PC is what you do with that.

What CPU are you running BTW?

Note : I won't set up my old PC because it's main board is dead so i have no proof. but it's not like 6600 is much of a GPU for a game that is from 2010.
