Hi guys,
I have been away from pr for a few months now but have decided to come back and play today but everytime I start up pr, it shows the splash screen and then shows a black screen and then CTD's with no error.
I used to have it working xp fine but now I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit which I'm guessing is the problem. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
Here are my specs:
OS: Windows 7 ultimate 32bit
CPU: AMD 9850 quad core 2.5ghz black edition
GPU: Nvidia 8800gts 320mb
RAM: 4gb
HDD: 3x 250gb
PSU: 600w
Thanks in advance for any help

Just so you know, I have tried the refresh rate fix but it doesn't fix the problem.

I have just tried deleting the profiles folder to force reset everything but doesn't fix the problem either...
EDIT: Setting compatibility for xp service pack 2 or 3 doesn't fix it.
EDIT2: Starting as administrator doesn't help.
EDIT3: Tried reinstalling bf2 and pr, still got the problem...
I'm running out of ideas guys, help!

After you upgraded to W7 did you follow this:
Installation timeline
1. Install BF2, run game link to EA account.
-----------------
BF2:SF Expansion | --- If you have BF2:SF, here is where it should be installed.
----------------
2. Install Battlefield 2 v1.41
3. Install Battlefield 2 v1.5
4. Install the latest PR Build (Currently: v0.917 part 1&2)

I followed that apart from the last part. I already had 0.9 so I installed that and then installed the patch. Oh and I couldn't run BF2 and link my EA account as I have the same CTD problem with BF2 standalone... I don't know what to do now?!

This is gonna sound kinda strange, and I wouldn't blame you for ignoring me on this one, but did you play the game inbetween patch installs? I had a problem ages ago where I was installing BF2 on a new PC but it wouldn't work for no particular reason, then when I reinstalled and ran the game after installing 1.41 it worked fine.

Ok man, I'll try reinstalling again and see if it starts up using v1.41.
EDIT: I tried running BF2 as soon as I installed it and it worked! As soon as I patch the game to v1.41, it started CTD'ing again...

So baically the problem is the 1.41 patch. The game ctd's as soon as that patch is installed. It seems to be a common problem according to google... The only solution I have found is setting the refresh rate and screen res to 800x600 but that doesn't work for me, still ctd's! I think I'm gonna have to give up unless someone has an answer to this problem

looks that you have tryed everything.
maybe your patches are corrupted?
and where you have installed your bf2/pr?
quote from installation guide by ancientman.
*NOTE*: There are sometimes problems encountered if you install into a different path from the default install path dictated by the BF2 and PR installers. For ease of use, we recommend installing BOTH BF2 and the PR install into the default paths denoted in each installer"

hmm maybe thats the problem as I have installed it in drive F and not drive C...
I'll try and install it on C drive. Hopefully this works.
EDIT: Nope, still the same damn problem arghhh! This is really annoying!!!

uninstall again all bf2/pr related.
run this
CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download. (it'll ask you if you wanna do a backup - better do it).
then install all required files in right order to the default path.
if not working, maybe you should download battlefield 2 1.41/1.50 pathches again(maybe corrupted)

Hey, would you be able to give some details on what updates you installed for Windows 7? I am having the same issue: click pr.exe, splash screen appears, screen goes black, crashes to desktop. My Windows 7 is up to date according to Windows Automatic Updates. I have also tried running in various compatability modes and as administrator.
OS: Windows 7 Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7 860
Memory: 8.00 GB

Hmm... are you sure your up to date on automatic updates? Downloading some of those updates are what seem to of fixed the problem for me

??:
EDIT: Ok, I was wrong... I am getting ctd on startup again for some reason so the updates didn't fix it. Dammit this is annoying!

Ok, I seem to ave found a fix (works for me anyways)...
You have to install patch 1.5 twice. The second time you install it, it only takes a few seconds. It seems to fix the black screen ctd at startup. Hope this helps some people
