When I try to load into any map in single player, the load bar goes to 58% (Geometries) and crashed to the desktop. I have tryed changing my geometry and texture settings via other postes.

I am running an AMD 2Ghz, with a Ati radeon x1650, with 1.5 GB of ram. On reading other postes I have seen that not having at least 2gig of ram my be the problem. Is that so for me?

Also of note, when I was running PR .860 it ran fine, with no problems

More ram is always good, but it's not necessarily your problem.
Defrag your HD.
Make sure you have 4 gigs free on your HD or partition containing the game, as well as keeping 15-20% free on system HD or partition.
Bump your virtual ram (page file) up to 1.5 x real ram ( set min & max the same)

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files.

Reboot. Play PR

Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
